this ROCKS, I love this so much!! It's mixed so well too, I always struggle mixing the harsh sounds of chiptune/synths and heavy metal guitars, so I'm mega impressed. Big Shovel Knight vibes, but I could totally see this as a PS1 game too. Man there's so much to dissect with this one, fantastic work!
I adore the muted trumpet/sax in Sunset, Sunrise, give it such a resolute but melancholy feel. Great choice. Also hearing the main theme turned into something hopeful was really neat too! I do wish the clock ticking was a little bit quieter as it sort of takes over the piece in Dream of Dreams, but it was a pretty clever idea for what it represents in game
Sorry I didn't mean to cause offence!! I meant weird as in unique and funky - I find myself getting stuck in the same type of music/chord sequences/ sounds etc, so hearing something so different from what I usually do is genuinely inspiring! I have a lot to learn from your sound choice and production skills!
After Hours slaps, I was immediately drawn in just from the drums, then the piano and droning bass kicked in and I was hooked. It's the sort of main theme where I'd just sit with the game on without playing to listen to. Uncertain has a great vibe and energy to it too, very Persona 5 reminiscent. Also overall a really neat take on the theme; fading light shining into empty places that are usually thrumming with life has a unique liminal feel to it, your swelling and pausing/stop-starting melodies and instrument choices capture this so so well.
I really liked when the guitar and tinkles kicked in during the main theme, gave it a bit of a funky vibe. Village Echoes was great right off the bat, the echo-y piano was a great bassline. The tinkles are maybe a bit too loud or could benefit from a slight bit compression just to take the top edge off. The marimba sound in Rock Paths gave it such a Zelda feel. Great sort of upbeat blues styling to all the tracks! Overall I could absolutely see this as an indie game OST, stellar work!
