I had fun playing with collision hehe
While I wouldn't say I was good at this, I was able to make a little raft lol. (Next goal is to make the Viking ship :D)
Let's gooooo! Thanks for playing! :D
as someone who really wants to make a sailing game but is too intimidated by water mechanics, this is super inspiring!
It is actually totally managable to do 3D-water in Godot. First time I ever did something with building or water or physics in 3D ever, and both the building as well as the water only took about one day to wrap my head around. Sadly I only learned afterwards of a bug in Godot 4.3 that make me loose a few hours on the water shater. I was trying to implement foam at the edges too, but they reversed some rendering mechanics and every example was broken. xD
Took some time to get used to the controls, but it soon became quite fun trying to build a little boat to float around in! Nice work!
Thanks for playing. Do you have any feedback about what made the controls difficult for you?
Very cool! Quite ambitious for a game jam but very impressive
Thank you very much. It was my first Jam and I had a very good teacher on my side. :)
Thoroughly enjoyed this. The building was super intuitive and felt really good. There was the slight issue of objects still colliding with you while you hold them, but once I started flying around with them I was having too much fun to care.
Thats basicly the main reason this still does happen. I cought this "bug" pretty early in development, but playtesters had so much fun with it, I left it in as a feature. That's why the easter egg is so high up, that you can only reach it using this kinda broken but fun mechanic :D
I enjoyed the easter egg at the top
Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed finding the little buddy! :D
I could fly in the game by holding an item below me. I thought it was a bug at first, but I guess I wouldn't have found the shark otherwise. :D Good game, congratulations!
It started as a bug, but then people went wild with it so I left it in on purpose and I'm currently thinking about the best ways to make it a fully fledged feature ^^
Fun Zelda like mechanic! I spent some time trying to build a stair to get to the other boats, until I realized that my stair IS the boat ahahah
So happy to hear you enjoyed it and even found some similarities with one of my favourite games series ^^
I did not find the shark !
The rotation of the items was pretty hard to master.
The game lacks a clear goal but as a building game, it was okay.
The map was kind of small and there weren't a lot of different items.
Still, I enjoyed playing the game. Thanks ! I might try it again later.
GG !
Thanks for playing the game! The easter egg is only reachable by using an early game bug to fly with your creations. This was left in as an inteded feature. But yeah, we reduced the scope to building simulator on day 2 or 3 because I felt like building the original idea would take too long. The original plan was a game where you build boats which would be then strong enough to carry random given items and get more points the less items you used for your boat. But as I said, not enough time to build all that on top of all the other mechanics as a single dev without having something similar done before. But what I managed to to I enjoyed a lot. ^^
You did all of this alone ???
Wooow, impressive ! GG ! I'll give it another go before the end of the rating period ! The sharrrkkk !!!
Not completely I had another team member who did the main menu and took care of the assets, even created some, which I definetely wouldn't have managed as well in that time. So thanks to her I was able to focus on coding and putting everything together.
Good job, team !
Loved the playword and nice concept, a bit difficult at first to figure out how to properly build stuff.
Oh no, you had trouble building? Any idea what was missing for you?
At first I found rotating objects a bit unintuitive and had an hard time building the way I wanted, but it was probably a skill issue because it seems I was the only one struggling with this :) I still enjoyed the game though! Gave it an other go today and I'd love to see if you update it after the jam
Chill building game. I think some kind of Goal would have been nice nonetheless.
Let's give you a goal then.... find the shark! :D
Already did :)
