I love everything about this--from the graphical style you chose to the concept. I hope you'll consider making a full version.

Simple but addicting!

This is really impressive for a jam game. Looking forward to checking out the making of!

Thank you! I love GB Studio. It can be a bit much if you've never used it before, but if you're just getting used to making games, it's an easy recommendation.

Thank you! Glad you were into it :)

I had a great time with this. I love the color palette, music, and pixels you chose. I would play a larger version of this if we could purchase more upgrades.

I like the art style you chose and Bobby's design.

The PlayStation era graphics really shine

Really smart level design/tutorial-ing.

Love the GB aesthetic you went with.

Such a simple, fun, addicting game. Good work! I love the little valkyrie.

The pixel art is extremely charming.

The music and colors you chose are very soothing.

I love seeing Bitsy projects in game jams :)

Super different from everything else I've played, so far.

Was this made in Twine?

Thank you!

I love your profile pic lol.

Totally. Reversing my hands (jumping with the left, moving with the arrow keys) feels foreign to me too.

Thanks for the kind words :)

I think the overall message fits the theme well. It was a nice touch that you could talk to the spider and ants inside the tree.

Thanks!

Cool prototype. I especially like her expressions in the portrait art.

My only suggestion at this point would be to highlight the doorways a bit better. I kept getting hung up on trying to exit the back room.

One of my favorites, so far!

I could see you increasing the scale until you're consuming more forests, cities, the world. It could be very Katamari lol. Cool little game.

Definitely the most original of the ones I've played in this jam, so far. Always cool to see a Godot project make it in.

Cool concept, I could see this being expanded into a bigger game. There's something about the brick textures that made them really satisfying to look at.

A great idea that fits the theme really well. During my early attempts, I thought the screen wasn't going to have enough space for all the hearts I was going to need lol.

Thanks for giving it a shot!

(There's only one ending lol).

What a simple but brilliant concept. Also some really smart level design with the placement of your platforms (I never fell all the way to the bottom--which means virtually no frustration).

I stopped after, like, the sixth loop. What's the craziest keyboard combination in here?

The graphics are so crunchy they belong in a long box PSX game (and I love it).

The cutscenes you put together were also impressive

This is a really well thought out puzzle platformer (and the sprites are adorable).

This is fantastic! It reminds me of being trapped in the kraken whirlpools in Wind Waker.

I didn't always understand what was happening--but that doesn't mean I was having a bad time.

I love how much STUFF was in this (the YouTube overlay, the pop ups, etc.).

Very good.

I wish I had a little more force to push things out of the way as I got bigger

Well...that was wonderful.

I wasn't sure what to expect but I had a great time. My only suggestion would be to include a pair of buttons--one clears the laser area so you don't have to manually remove all the boxes--the other mutes the laser area so you can go back and listen to the sample loop.

Good game!

Well, that was delightfully dark lol.

I really like the variety in the different micro games.

I was smiling ear to ear the whole time I was playing this.

This is the most unique take on the theme I've seen. I have a couple suggestions.

Maybe add a thin outline to some of the darker components to the terrarium (I was placing millipedes and didn't notice at first). The song also grew on me, but maybe have two or three in a loop or have a music select for longer sessions (I wanted to keep playing).

Overall, a super strong entry and probably in my top 5 from what I've played so far.

The fact that you did a fully animated cutscene is super impressive. I'm also a big fan of the menu song lol.

Thanks for checking it out!--it means twice as much coming from a pixel black cat ;)

Thank you!

(1 edit)

Not a bad suggestion--I did kinda want to play with the idea of "the day job" and the routine that comes with the territory.

Thanks for checking it out!
