GENIUS! Though the title screen bugged out on me. (It got bigger than my screen.) Playing it was fun. You thought sound waves instead of water waves, which was pretty clever. You also seem to put some effort into audio too, so props.

Wow! I love your take on the theme and I think you nailed the sound design and atmosphere. Making a game in complete darkness sounds next to impossible to me, and you managed to pull it off so well! However...

I think that the echolocation-cooldown could be a little shorter. Either that or increasing the area affected because right now I found myself taking a step, then checking for dangers, taking a step, then checking for dangers, and so on.

Other then that, the gameplay is unique and really enjoyable.

I really hope that you continue to develop this game.

Cheers!

Just to exemplify the problem, in the 4th level or so the enemies likely end up on the same platform as you so you have to wait or just keep firing all the time in that level.

That said I still enjoyed it. I just find the idea of a platformer where you don't even know where YOU are is hard to play.  I think if nothing else the PC should always be visible.

you know.... I don't know why I didn't consider making the player always visible never crossed my mind but I may do that in the next version. Thank you for the feedback, I'll be sure to keep it in mind :D

Glad my feedback could help.

Feedback should point out what a person thinks is right and wrong with a product. Because of that, I like to tell what I liked and what I disliked with why I disliked it. It may be opinions but sometimes the feel is the most important part.

Thank you for the feedback, I definitely plan on tweaking this one a little more post-jam. The original plan for the echo was for it to essentially shoot a bunch of lines outward that reflect off of the environment and slowly fades out, so it would give a larger but more fragmented view. I want to eventually try that.

The game itself was amazing, but the echolocation took too long to execute. Sometimes it felt that even though the first wave has faded, I was not allowed to use it again. Also, shooting the burst of sound through the smaller areas felt a little difficult, as if the bullet was coming out of the players body rather than the gun. I also felt that the longer levels could use checkpoints. I ended up quitting after I died quite far into the level, and had to restart from the beginning.

Loved the game and can't wait to see more. Hope you try my submission to the jam too and let me know your thoughts on it. Its called "The Last Wave".

Thank you for  the feedback, It definitely needs a good amount of tweaking to be considered properly finished. I plan on eventually modifying it so that your gun follows the mouse and making the projectile come out the end of it, but I couldn't quite fit that into the product as of now. Also checkpoints would definitely be nice on the longer level, again just another thing I had planned on implementing but time constraints prevented it. I'll definitely be trying your submission, and thank you again for playing!

I liked the concept, but the jumping part wasn't really for me, ended up quitting before finishing it. Kinda felt like it had the frustration of platformers with the frustration of waiting. The echo area thing was either too small or it took too long to recharge. Also, too many long and flat areas where the player has to be really careful to avoid falling down pits. (PS: subtitles would be nice)

Thank you for the feeback. It's funny that level was actually the part I was tweaking right before I submitted (It was 2am and I had been doing level design for like 4 hours at that point so I just kinda got it playable, I knew it was gonna be the most "WTF was he thinking" part of the game lol). It's a lot better than it was when I first made it since I added the environmental waves, but I agree it's a bit of a pain and was more of a demonstration of how platforming would be in a potential finished product. I also considered subtitles but with the time frame I was working with after switching engines halfway through the jam I didn't wanna focus too much on that and not finish something more important.  I'm glad the concept itself was enjoyable to you though, and I appreciate you taking the time to play it.

No problem man, good luck on future games!
