loved the art ...u kept it consistent across the game ...the gameplay is also nice!
There's always that one mechanic in a fun game that instantly activates your dopamine, and in this one it's seeing packs of wolves be wiped out by a hail of arrows. I especially appreciate the amount of wolves at the end and seeing my arrow towers go into maximum overdrive. Cute artstyle, simple fast-paced gameplay, and stuck to theme perfectly, Awesome Jam Game!
Simple fun. It was nice that could you can drag the towers since the building placement is so weird.
That is a LOT of wolves towards the end! Fun little idea overall though and I felt engaged enough to keep playing. All the art and sfx fit well too. Nice job!
Oh, btw your game page has a tiny typo that says "Made for Trijam #248" :)
Good spotting on typo. It's amazing how hard it is to get the difficulty curve on a game like this, too fast and too many people don't finish, opposite is too easy. The artist is great she did our previous game Misspell, and has a real talent. https://gd.games/jam_mack46 The rooster int the morning always cracks me up. THanks.
Game juice does make a lot of difference, and there's lots of it here! However, the difficulty got a little unfair in the last 2 seconds compared to what was pretty easy so far. Good work!
Tbh, very addictive gameplay :)
I think this game has a hight replayability and it has a great potential!
I would however improve a couple of things (just my nitpicks ๐)
- The tower placement is a bit odd - you have to press a button in the left upper corner and you don't have control on where the tower will appear in the game. Sometimes towers were on top of each other and it is hard to pick which one I want to move. Sometimes a tree could spawn on a tower but I don't want to move it so I have to be careful.
- I think would be fun to let player to move towers as many times. That would let you to introduce a mechanic when a player can expand the borders of the kingdom and push wolves miles away. I also noticed that they spawn in a close area around the town only when I was trying to build towers further away on the map.
- Also, nice touch with the leaderboard (though I would add a text field to let player to write its name so the score would be more personal)!
Overall, this game is very fun to play, extremely addictive! Well done and good luck in the jam competition ๐
Thanks for the great feedback, yeah the towers I was trying to add more strategy by only getting one chance, but the collision mask on it made trying to move a bit tricky. The wolf spawner wasn't as good as I was hoping as you said too close, just time constraints. The leaderboard enters your name if you play it on gd.games, ie have a profile, but just ran out of time to create a custom text field. I lost a lot of time trying to get the difficulty curve right, you have to playtest a lot cuts into your time. Glad you liked it.
This was just a fun side project, i wanted to see what it was like doing a trijam in a team. My main project is https://gd.games/jam_mack46 I am hoping to take that all the way :) Have a look all feedback welcome.
Feels fun to chop down the trees ๐
I dig the vibe, nicely done ๐
