How did you choose to implement the Theme: Alien Infiltration in your game?
.
The biology of these aliens adapts them to whichever species they become parasites to. These mechanisms however are not perfect and result in exaggerated and mish-mashed human features appearing on the aliens. This leads their infiltration efforts to go amiss.
Not part of the theme, but important disclaimer:
I messed up so all of the movement options are unlocked form the beginning loool have fun exploring i guess haha
This is a somewhat text heavy game, especially if you're playing it for the jam as you'll essentially be playing the first 20–30 minutes of gameplay and then moving on to another entry. There are GAMEPLAY INSTRUCTIONS and general world- and story-building embedded into the dialogue boxes that pop up. I know to some that may feel like a really obvious thing to point out, but you'd be surprised at how often I encounter this with both my own and other peoples jam entries. I'm definitely anticipating a few comments along the lines of "I don't understand the controls" or "I don't really get what I'm supposed to do" but hopefully not now that I submitted with all the movement powerups equipped by mistake loool.
If you encounter bugs or glitches or apparent softlocks, amazing pleeease let me know! Don't like how the controls *feel* or react? Do you think I implemented a mechanic poorly or I didn't include *enough* backstory, lore, or general MO for the player? 100% gimme that feedback! I'm probably not going to engage much with people asking things about the game that are clearly outlined, either within the in-game dialogue or in the description on the game's page (or more often, both), and I'm probably not going to try out your game if you're leaving those kinds of comments tbh. In the end, there's always a few people that try to speedrun the games to be able to rate and comment on as many as possible and if I lose some points here and there because of players skipping through all the dialogue that's totally fine, I'm doing the jam to have fun and make a neat little experience <3
Did you implement any of the optional Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?

Hey,guy! I'm really sorry that I only just noticed your update on the work. Your game is truly amazing, retro yet distinctive, with a rich flow and content. This game is fantastic!Congratulations!
Hey thank you so much! Gotta say, I’m definitely proud of my work on this one ❤
Fun game! I gotta be honest, when trying games for the first time, I really feel that all text should just be able to be skipped. It was hard to read and in tiny segments my wrist started hurting from continuously pressing the J button. I think if you set it up where the dialogue was short, but you could go back and talk to the NPCs more that would have been much better. I would also liked to have more standard control with return and space used instead of J & K. Art was really cool and the retro feel was awesome. Well done!
Hey thanks for playing! Breaking up the text into smaller chunks is something I’ll be adding in the big post-jam update I have planned (also adding an easier to read font haha). For the controls I’ll keep your critiques in mind, but in my experience J & K are pretty standard action keys and fall where people’s hands generally rest while typing as they’re both on the home row. That being said I will likely add the option to jump and accept menu choices using the spacebar as there are quite a few games that use it as an action key as well. Stayed tuned for Big Update 1, the “Mechanics Update” which will be uploaded once the voting period ends. Thanks again for playing ❤
Awesome, can't wait!
Really unique and visually great game - the art and story were intereting, and writing was fun (though as mentioned by others, the text was a bit hard to read). Looking forward to future updates!
Hey thank you for playing! I’m honestly so flattered how much people are vibing with the visuals 🥲
Man, this game takes me back. I loved the visuals and the style of the game, the writing was funny and the music was great too.
Looking forward to trying out the full game without god mode activated, I feel like I cheated a lot just being able to do everything right off the bat. But the mechanics feel good and the controls on keyboard are all solid. I liked how you have to dash to do wall jumping properly, everything about the game was really well designed, great job!
Thanks so much, really appreciate nice compliments! Honestly so embarrassed about the godmode thing lmao, that’s jam life 😂 Was so worried I’d accidentally have the player start in some random room I was testing (something I’ve definitely done in other jams before haha that I forgot to turn it off. What can u do ¯_(ツ)_/¯ would love for you to try it out after the jam when some much needed improvements have been added 💖
An adorable little game! The combination of lots of text and a font that is hard to read is not ideal. If you have a long story to tell I would prefer longer chunks of text. It becomes very tedious to click forward after a while. Still, a very well made entry with great pixel art and sound.
Hey thanks for the review! I’ll say it’s definitely easier to read at smaller resolutions but yeaaa, I can definitely see that it’s not the mooost readable font 😅 unfortunately, the “click through” aspect is a bit if a limitation of the program I used. I wasn’t just going for the Game Boy style, I used a program called GB Studio which produces actual .gb ROMs. Suuuper easy program to get into but at the cost of having all the limitations an actual Game Boy game does, including clunky dialogue implementation ¯_(ツ)_/¯ And thank you for the compliment about the sound, definitely fell short of what I’d hoped (I’m a composer LOL) but all the other stuff that I’m not as familiar with (ART 😔) really ate up that month of development 😂 Feel free to check back in sometime after the voting ends, I’ll hopefully have some improvements implemented ;)
Really like the unique twist on this theme, with the aliens being really freaky (both terrifying and hilarious). Really enjoyed the visuals also, showing just enough visuals for the player to imagine what the world and creatures look like. I will say that it was quite hard to actually understand what I was supposed to do though, ended up just wandering around until I found the story.
Really nice job on this one!
Hey no, you figured it out! It’s primarily an exploration game, definitely inspired by the Souls-like “minimal directions” angle. Hopefully by the end of the voting period I’ll have a slightly more complete version ready (with more emphasis on enemy encounters and “stealth” powers) but alas, ran out of time to implement some of that. Stay tuned for that if you’re interested, and thanks for playing!
Keep it up, I'll check out the more complete version for sure!
I like this game overall. The story telling as well done, I get a good sence of the main character and state of the world. The background elements are a nice touch and make a great unnerving atmosphere. I was on the side of the build and the aliens started saying some truly horrific things. Great work 👏
Hey thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed the story!
I am like art-style of your game. But I really "I don't really get what I'm supposed to do" after parking floor. In ground level i cannot jump to a clif. I'm trying to dash as written in the control description and nothing. And the font is hard to read.
Hey yea we’re still in demo mode over here, should have a better build once the submission period ends! For the dash, did you grab the associated item that lets you dash? The player doesnt have any powers unlocked right from the start, you’ll have to find the item that grants you that power.
