This was awesome! Love how the music comes on when the fun pumped up. Sound in general was really good and fit the design nicely.

Developer

Thanks so much!

I *LOVE* the social commentary!
The sound design was great as was the color shifting mechanism.
On my first play-through I didn't realize I could just hold down the button, so I made a massive amount of money rapidly hitting the button so the bar hovered just above the red line. (LOL!)

Really wonderful job!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah the balancing was tough to do because for a strategy-like game it requires a LOT of play testing so there are a few dominant strategies

Submitted(+1)

Yes, strategy games are generally some of the hardest to implement in a limited time frame specifically because they require a lot of time to balance. (The hardest to implement are those from traditionally asset-heavy genres like RPGs and RTS games.)

You said this was your first video game? This was an exceptionally good release for a first game jam release! Your dev page says you are looking to do this as a hobby, but you have real potential to take this further than that.

Developer

Thank you very much that's very kind of you! I've been making small prototypes of mechanics but they never went further to actual gameplay or even art. I tried the Brackey's one but I ran out of time, so yeah this is the first one I've actually finished before!

The art is good, the sound design is impactful, the colours changing is impactful and it has some good mechanics. This is a bloody good game for just 5 days of work!

Developer

Thank you very much!

It's clear that you put a lot of work into this game. I really liked the strategy aspect of it.
the graphics are very consistent and it's really fun to play !

Developer

Thanks very much I appreciate the kind words!

The UI for the game itself is nice and the premise itself is easy to understand, yet leaves a lot of room for more challenges to add on to the game. The only thing I was confused on was just how was the mood being improved in the first place? From the sound of gas and the effects that happened with the press of the button, I feel like your just pumping the room full of laughing gas, which I guess would explain why the people wouldn't be so productive if the mood was too high....

This was interesting so nice job.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I suppose I didn't really spend any time on a story/lore. I made the mechanical sounds just to feel more industrial and business like but I will add story later on

Submitted(+1)

Ah, fair enough with the time limit.

Actually, this made perfect sense to me considering stores and casinos have been known to pump odors (and sometimes pheromones) through their vents in order to get people to stay longer and act in desired ways. The idea of expanding that to venting a gas manipulates employees was even a major plotline for Firefly. (I also remember when news was announced about the invention of anti-narcolepsy medication that let you stay awake for 2 days without feeling the effects...we were all joking that EA was going to stir into company coffee pots.)

I really like the game design! The concept is interesting. I have a little suggestion that would be to add special events. For example, if we keep the mood level very high we could have the salary that does not change or another advantage. Another example would be to put penalties (with the salary increasing for example) if the player has a level of mood just sufficient so the workers does not leave.

Developer

I was thinking of having different events but I hadn't thought of tying them to the mood level so thank you!

In this jam I was expecting everything but a strategy game. The game you made is really impressive, so simple but challenging at the same time. And most of all, FUN!

Oh, and of course the art is really good, and like the others I really liked the HUD (and also the tutorial!)

Developer

I'm so glad you liked it! I tried to come up with a style I didn't think others would do. Probably most proud of the HUD design so really happy people seem to appreciate that

Interesting idea and wery nice art.

Developer

Thank you, I was really pleased with how the art came out!

Very interesting game. Keeping the balance while the pressure of rent creeps over the horizon is quite the experience. Excellent presentation too. Congrats!

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you liked the balance it was probably the most difficult bit!

A game with nice concept and interesting visuals. I just tried holding the space button, I could easily reach max bar level and keep it that level though.

Developer

Thanks! I did try to balance that with the wages increasing so the extra workers hurt you later on, but maybe that needs some reviewing

An interesting and well done approach to the theme, had a lot of fun playing it, and loved the graphics as well as the mechanics.

Developer

Thank you so much! I had a blast playing your game as well

Thank you! I was really pleased how the HUD turned out
