  • Very pleasantly surprised by the game. This is a real game. I would have liked an animation when he shoots, but overall it’s well animated, and there’s good music that really has that old-school demoscene vibe. There’s a story, there’s distortion effects, there are nice graphics — honestly, there’s nothing to complain about. I’m just a bit left wanting more — I would have liked a bit more content — but all the ingredients are there to make a great game.
  • What a very nice game and idea. I struggled with the limited ammo and enemy count, which should be balanced a bit. One suggestion is to add more ammo to when you pick up a resupply as it would make the game more balanced.
  • One of the best games in my opinion. At least technically and graphically. Because in terms of gameplay and enjoyment, it's not as good as other entries.

Gave me the vibe of Amiga games I could only ever play at my cousins house. I struggled with the shooting accuracy at times, so perhaps a bit more forgiving on the hitboxes would ne nice. But you really crammed a lot of ideas in and polished them well. You should be proud!

I love the player animation and the parallax backgrounds with HDMA effects applied look great! I also like the atmospheric music, although one of the lead samples sounds a bit off (maybe due to having been shortened).

From a gameplay perspective, I believe it would benefit from being able to:

  • slide around corners
  • parry enemy shots and have a short-range melee attack (risk-reward)

Overall, a great submission!

A bit of refinement on the dash activation—since I often triggered it by accident—and some tweaks to the shooting so you don’t have to be quite as precise with positioning when hitting enemies, and this could have some really good potential. :)
