Cool game! I don't think I ever saw the smiley guy, but I lost my first go-through and made it my second.

Your game in real life:  I wake up at night, hearing noises.  Turn on the light, and see...  MY CAT watching me sleep, sitting on my pillow.  

Good work!  It is an original little game!
