Hey! I have never created a gb game before. With nine days on the clock before the jam starts, i wanted to know if there is enough time to learn this little piece of software, GB Studio, and not having to deal with little bugs that can be solved by coding in gameboy native language. I have experience with plenty of editors, RPG Maker, godot, as well as many other not game related. Messing around, it seems pretty simple, and similar to rpg maker to some extent. Are there any bugs, things to note, things to not do etc. that you guys have figured out, and that are not mentioned in the documentation? Thank you in advance!
i liked this very much! It was beautifully written, and the art was great too! One way to improve this game would be adding interactivity - more choices that give different outcomes. But in the short time a jam provides i assume that is very hard to do. Also, i had some trouble with the safe. In europe we use dd/mm/yyyy format instead of mm/dd/yyyy, so i was trying a password of the type dmyy instead of mdyy thatvit actually was. Until i realised that i was stuck there, trying out passcodes. Great experience overall!
It was fun. I loved the way it looked. The first part of the game was atmospheric, well made. I would love it if the beast was a bit more elegant with the way it worked. Once i realised that this big spider with asthma is after me and i can't shake it off, i got used to it being behind me and started taking random directions to find the fire pots. Anyway, great game!
So: I could see me playing this for hours! I think the worst trait it has right now is the visibility - It looks great, but the sound-based vision kinda messes with the experience. Maybe make it more forgiving, or, make other things in the enviroment emit sound! Something like that. Also maybe up the player movement speed and jump distance by a few units. None the less, i had fun. Good job! <3
