It feels like a mix between Ape out and Resident evil, very interesting concept, good presentation but needs to be polished a bit, for now it's pretty good

Developer

Thank you very much πŸ‘

Yeah, there's a bunch of stuff to tweak as of this build, but I've already got a few ideas on how to fix them, and in turn avoid those mistakes moving forward  πŸ€”

Retro resident evil is very cool !

Nice game, the sound is very disturbing which is impressive for an 8bit style. Only problems I had was some collision issues.

Very cool game.

Cool game. The sprite of the first monster kinda reminded me of a texture I made when making my first pixel art game, nice memory :)

Fun game! The aesthetic is really cool, I'll have to check out GB Studio sometime.

Developer

Thank you very much!

Yeah, GB Studio's full of surprises, I'm only scratching the surface at the moment, so much potential 😡

Nice design. 8-bit style is always cool!

The big issue I had with a lot of this is collision issues, especially with the glass, and the weird white-and-orange enemies kind of immediately making the minigun feel worthless. Straight up bullet sponges lmao

Doing a gb game well is definitely commendable though! Good job!!

Edit: I'm glad people are recognising that those are supposed top be glass shards on the ground πŸ‘

Cards on the table, there are a fair amount of schoolboy errors in this project, not least - ahem - I accidentally gave the bigger monsters about a half second of i-frames... πŸ˜…πŸ˜–

Those big guys that show up were intended to feel like Mr X had crashed the party, triggering the player's fight-or-flight response during the final push - they have 24 HP compared to the other monsters having between 7 and 9 - except those i-frames make choosing to stand your ground completely out of the question 😬

Or to put it another way, this is where I'm at πŸ˜…:

I like visual style and shooting. But text is hard to read

Developer(+1)

I was wondering about the font myself: I started out with 3px wide by 7px high letters as capitals, then shrank them by a pixel for lower case; I'm thinking I ought to scale them up instead πŸ€”

Glad you liked the other elements though πŸ‘

Hey, how to play it?

Developer(+1)

If you're playing the browser version, first click in the viewport to wake it up (it's a bit peculiar like that), then press the "Use" key to start the game (mapped to F, Z or J). Other controls are revealed in text boxes during the game or there's a full list on the game page itself.

The downloadable version is a Game Boy rom, so open it in a Game Boy emulator.

Nice oldschool vibe!
But on-floor glass collision so tricky.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the trigger size for the glass is a 16x16 pixel square, but the glass graphic is noticeably smaller than that 😬

Definitely something to fix in a future version πŸ‘
