OMG, you only needed to hit the target XD great job

Developer

Thanks!

You definitely did a good job at creating a creepy vibe! I enjoy the fact that you had fun doing some voice acting on the recorders as well. This was a nice, brief and to the point horror game.

Good work!

Developer

Thank you very much!

Oh some of these things gave me real chills! Brr.

I love it that you actually did voice acting! We were considering it for the intro of our game but ultimately cut it due to lack of self confidence and time :D And also kids sleeping upstairs.

Good work with sounds in general.

Cool levels with pipes and cables. Did you use splines/paths for the cables? One thing that could have been better was the super thin walls. They were almost planes sometimes.

In the end I was wondering if I would have to face the voice that could be heard every now and then, and especially during the escape. Phew, I didn't :)
Cool game, I liked it. It was immersive and well designed I think. Perfect length

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I actually put the cables by hand ๐Ÿ’€

Great job in building the atmosphere with the sound design and over all look of the place. Small random occurrences were nice too, although the skeleton lockers got me laughing way too hard, but that's a good thing I think. Regardless, this was a tense experience and the ending sequence was nice way to end too even if for me it became more of an action sequence. But mad respects for re-using your level design like that! I love how the levels were build, you could see that some design actually went to making them work. I must also say it again, the sound design was great and really got me on the edge of my seat.

The game is basically finished and gives a short and fun horror experience, so good work! I mean you can always develop it further but I think there is nothing more you need to add, except maybe some usage for crouch lol. Respect for doing sound-options tho!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your detailed feedback! We were planning to have some usage for crouch but it required more time for level design which I couldn't afford. Also there had to be a whole another level section for the final chase which I also scrapped. That actually helped to make the game more fleshed out in the end. There always will be situations like that where you have to sacrifice one thing for something more important and I think the game jams like this teach you this lesson the best.

No prob, love to game test and write about it. Deadlines are truly a curse and a blessing, heh :D

Pretty polished experience. The puzzle was a nice game loop and the audio tapes kept me entertained inbetween.

The ending was kinda scary, didn't expect the button to do that.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'm glad the experience was enjoyable!

Submitted(+3)

Loved this! The audio logs are a really nice touch; while I'm not the hugest fan of them as a way to tell the story, in a short-term jam like this, seeing them implemented well is honestly pretty cool. The chase at the end was really fun, too; Clearly sign-posted without being like, 100% obvious, as it should be. Was a really great way to end the game!

Also, respect the jump scares not being the cheapest, saving most of the actual horror for the big chase. Hitting that balance of leaving jump scares as little "oh shit!" moments is pretty tough at times, so... nice!

I don't have a lot to complain about here; great job!

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thank you for acknowledging the jumpscares! That was the part of the game that I put the most effort and time into and I'll be honest that I am really flattered about someone noticing this! Thanks again!

The atmosphere was nailed down to a T, I found myself creeping around corners and checking behind myself a lot to see if the bodies got up.

My biggest thing is mostly the lack of prompts, I got a little confused at the start and couldn't quite figure out the controls without trial and error. With the non-interactable doors I think a text box that says "it won't budge" would help push the player to explore more a little bit faster.

That being said I really enjoyed the experience! Thank you for coming to the stream :D

Developer

Thank you for rating the game! We tried to do the game without any HUD and pop-up text and saw the problem of player being confused about which thing is interactable or not. That's why we added a pop-up hand UI in the center of the screen which shows which object in the game can be interacted but I guess it still wasn't enough. I definitely could have used some sounds or even a voiceover for the character to singnalize some situations in the game.

Developer

Thanks! To be honest, there were definitely some accessibility/guidance features that were planned but we didn't quite have time for them. I'm glad you were able to enjoy it regardless!

Well done. The sound design is good. I liked the audio-logs. Less the controls (as many games, there is a key-mapping problem with non-qwerty keyboards)

Developer

Thanks!

Wow I just finished the game and it honestly left me speechless. That was a beautifully made game everything about the game was so incredibly built and everything tied together so well! The story was amazing the more I listened to the more and more entrapped I became. A beautifully made environment that kept my feeling more and more immersed as the game went on.

overall this was an amazing game I don't really have anything negative to say about it! keep up the amazing work :D
