Wanted to say, this was one of the games that immediately stood out when I looked at all the games. Beautiful and creative art style. The whole game itself is a great idea and works very well with the theme. I was a bit confused gameplay wise, but I do understand it, maybe a clear tutorial? Would love  to see it be updated. Overall, chef kiss!

Developer

Appreciate that! Very keen to work on an update that makes things a little clearer and also adds some depth, while still trying to maintain some of the mystique.

Submitted

Loved the artwork and sound design but, I had trouble figuring how to play the game.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! Definitely going to try and make it clearer with an update down the line.

A bit confused on how to play the game but that might just be me, maybe the addition of a tutorial could help out?

Developer

Thanks for playing! Definitely investigating ways to make it clearer with an update without taking away the mystique.

This was very cool and spooky! The art style is great, really compliments the atmosphere. It was a little confusing as to what UI elements I could interact with, so some visual and/or feedback for the actions would've been great. Overall, this could make for a really spooky and engaging horror/roguelike experience if expanded on.

Thanks, Matt! 100% agree about the UI stuff and a fix is definitely in the plans should we continue to work on it a little.

INCREDIBLY cool entry! The aesthetic, the narrative style, and the sound design were utterly gorgeous, this is such a cool use of the theme! Alas it took me a couple of plays to figure out, and I agree with suggestions to update the UI in future so it's clearer what's clickable (for a while I thought it was a bug that I couldn't click Penance, before realising you can only click Knowledge and Break Thy Pact.

Really cool, atmospheric game of chance, I'd love to see this as part of a larger narrative! :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! Definitely have a lot of ideas for updates in terms of mechanics and the comments you and others have provided to make things a little clearer and hopefully more interesting too. Appreciate you playing!

Really great illustration, sound effects and overall aesthetic. I was a little confused by what the different states in the game actually meant though. I think it was explained in the introduction but I found the language a little opaque, despite being thematically appropriate. Despite not quite understanding, I did feel the sense of rising urgency, so well done on nailing the theme.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! Wanted to see how little I could get away with telling the player but definitely agreeing that I could have been clearer in those areas.

Aesthetic and sound were super awesome! it took me a little bit to figure out what was clickable but otherwise gameplay theming was on point!

Developer

Many thanks! Yeah agreed on that, definitely something I would want to make clearer if I were to update it.

Developer

BUG NOTE: Play in full-screen to avoid bugged button (whoops!)

Hail Satan! What a cool concept, in love with the art, helluva job mense!

Developer

Baie, baie dankie!

killer art design and mood. I had the same bug as Desktoy though where I can't seem to click anything other than knowledge. I'm on firefox, not sure if that's why

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, I really have no clue why that's happening lol. Haven't seen it on my side for some reason so maybe that is it. First time doing a web build so not sure if maybe there's something I missed there.

Developer

Just realised I also get that issue if I don't play full screen

Super cool art, definitely enhances the mood of the game. Cool work

The atmosphere of the game was great... really cool submission well done!

Excellent execution of art, music and game play to make an exact and satisfying experience.

Developer

Massively appreciated, thank you!

I dig the vibes, though I dont know if Im misunderstanding the rules or if my game / screen is funky, I couldnt click penance or break thy Pact. the only button that seemed to work for me was knowledge, am I missing something?

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing! So only the hand/Knowledge and the button saying 'Break Thy Pact' should be clickable - very odd that it doesn't seem to work for you though :/

Developer

Noticed now that, at least on my side, that button only works in full screen. Whoopsie doopsie!

Loved the art and sound design! Took us a second to understand the creepy instructions but once we did it really felt like we were playing with chance.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, friends!

Especially loved the sound design on this one! The art was really great too. My only critique would be to have put the goal for how much money you need to get in order to win in the game somewhere, I was a bit confused about that before I scrolled down on the page (which is on me lol). Well done to yall!

Developer(+1)

Totally fair point! Thanks for checking it out!

Spooky (but beautiful) visuals and interesting use of the theme, really liked this one!

Developer

Appreciate it, Kyle!

I wasn't expecting to play satanic black jack today lol.

The art and sound design was really good

Not saying it's impossible to reach 15k but it feels like it. I really like the art style, it really defines this game. Could definitely see this fit into a larger narrative like a roguelike/lite.

Developer

And to think I pulled it back from $20K at the last minute 😅  Thanks! I would love that! Especially in a version of the game that had more to it mechanically, wanted to add some stuff to throw in a little strategy Buckshot Roulette style but didn’t quite have the time.

The art style is so creepy and the sound design really fits the game well. Great job!

Developer

Thank you!!
