Have a question about the Asset Contest? Check below for answers to some of the most common questions! If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to reply to this thread.

What are the asset requirements?

Please refer to the links below for details:

<Assets Standards>

RPG Maker MZ Assets Standards

RPG Maker MV Assets Standards

RPG MAKER UNITE Asssets Standards

Is there a limit to the number of team members?

Nope! You can work solo or with as many collaborators as you like. However, keep in mind that the prize will only be awarded to the account that submits the game, so make sure you and your team discuss how to split any winnings beforehand.

Can you submit more than one asset set?

Each participant can submit up to 3 entries per category!

For the Sound Category, how many tracks can I submit?

You can submit up to three tracks for judging.

Can I use Assets that doesn't fit the MZ/MV size?

for the best results when submitting your sprite, we recommend sticking with the default size of 48×48 for MZ/MV!

Do I need to create separate pages for multiple submissions?

You are allowed to submit a maximum of three entries overall! If your entries belong to the same genre, feel free to merge them into a single submission. However, if they are in different genres, please create separate pages for each. For example, if you submit one entry each in the "Sound," "Tileset," and "Enemy" categories, you will need to create three pages.

Still Have Questions?

If you don’t see your question answered here, feel free to reply to this thread, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible!

Submitted

Can I make sprites in another size and multiply them to fit the MV/MZ grind?
I know that in MZ there is an option to change the grinds.

Host(+1)

Thanks for the question!

MZ does give you the flexibility to adjust the grid size.

However, for the best results when submitting your sprite, we recommend sticking with the default size of 48×48 for MZ/MV!

So would it still work to make assets for Ace or 2k3?
Or are the MV/Z (or Unite) specifications a soft-requirement?

Host(+1)

The contest is exclusively for RPG Maker MV, MZ, and Unite. Regrettably, assets created for Ace or 2003 do not align with the contest requirements. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to showcase your fantastic work within the eligible platforms!

Submitted

Is there a problem with including the 3 characters (3 submit) for versions 2000/2003, XP/VX and MV/MZ in the package? Or is only MV/MZ/UNITE allowed even if the design is the same?

Host(+1)

You are welcome to upload it, but please keep in mind that only submissions for MZ, MV, and UNITE will be eligible for judging. If you are comfortable with this, feel free to proceed!

Submitted

Perfect! Thanks about all support for this event. 🙇‍♂️
I go started 3nd character.

I submited a Music Pack - where can I specify which 3 tracks I select to be judged? 🫥 (It would be the first 3 tracks, there's also a YT video with previews attached )

Host

Please specify the three tracks by their names!  (The first three tracks will be judged, but just to be sure, listing their names would be great!)

Submitted

Sure! The tracks are:

  • 01 - Land of Evermorning
  • 02 - Flash of Light
  • 03 - Little Hamlet

The tracks can be downloaded for free in full (since the asset pack is free) but I've also provided a preview video with all 3 tracks:

Hi is it possible to submit character bust arts?

Host

Yes! That would be categorized under the "Other" Category.

Submitted

Thank youuu!!

Submitted

Ohh also another question! For example I'll submit up to 3 entries for one category (Others), when I submit it, is it okay to have all three entries in one itch page/download file, or do I have to make 3 separate itch pages/download files for each entry?

Also, if I can make 3 entries for 1 category, I can also make another for another category right? as long as 3 is the maximum for each category?

Host(+1)

You are allowed to submit a maximum of three entries overall! If your entries belong to the same genre, feel free to merge them into a single submission. However, if they are in different genres, please create separate pages for each.

Submitted

Thank you so much!!

Hello. Is there a limit to how many categories I can submit to? for example. If I make 3 entries each for "tilesets" "sound" and "Others", am I able to submit to other categories? I understand I would have to make separate pages for the different genres such as "Others" or "Tilesets", but is there a limit to how many categories I can make entries for?

Host

There's no limit to the number of categories you can apply for, so feel free to submit entries to as many as you'd like!

Submitted

Okay. Thank you!

Hello! Should an animated SV enemy battler (obviously requires a plugin to use) be categorized as “enemies” or as “others”?

EDIT: never mind, as suggested by Archeia on RMW, I'll just submit a single-frame version on top of the sprite sheet.

Host

Got it! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Submitted (1 edit)

Thanks! Was also wondering if you were curating the submissions. There's a bunch of spam/marketing submissions of commercial (paid) assets (that also have thematically nothing to do with the contest), and I think that by leaving them there you're basically rewarding their bad conduct. Just my two cents!

Submitted(+1)

Hello! For the tileset category, can I upload more than one tilesheet? In the rules it says that you can only upload one, but water tiles and wall tiles need to be their own separate images to work in editor, is there a problem if I upload more than one image?

And, is there a problem if, in my asset's page I include a link in case people want to commission me? Or would it be best to not put it?

Host(+1)

You're welcome to upload multiple tilesheets!

As long as they're all part of the same theme and work together to express what you want to create, you can submit them as one entry.

Participants can submit up to three entries per category.

>>And, is there a problem if, in my asset's page I include a link in case people want to commission me? Or would it be best to not put it?

No problem at all—you're free to include a commission link if you'd like!

Just trying to clarify on another question here, is it okay to scale up on the size of a sprite sheet so long as it works in MZ and/or MV? For example, each square in a grid being 96x96 to allow for more detail/height? Or is 48x48 it? (trying to decide which sprite style to do) Also, is it one full page of sprites (so 8 characters) or up to 3 characters?

EDIT: because I reread an earlier answer and got part one of my question answered, now just leaving the second part open. (Whether it's one character per entry or one full sprite page)

Host

You’re welcome to submit your character sprites as a complete sprite sheet (with multiple characters).

But of course, submissions with just a single character are also totally fine.

How many pictures is the upper limit of one entry?

How to clarify an entry?

I mean,I would like to know the clear definition of an entry, thx

Host

Participants can submit up to three entries per category.

Just a friendly reminder, please make sure your entries are set to free and include the required tags when you submit them!

The entry will be considered submitted once you've joined the jam and posted your work according to the guidelines. We hope this answers your question!

Submitted

Hi y'all, my question is basically same as Valentina's! <3 For tilesets, the rules say to upload one sheet only, but for a workable tileset, I wud need at least one A5 and one B (for RpgMaker MV)?

Host(+1)

You're welcome to upload multiple tilesheets!

As long as they follow the theme and work together to express your idea, you can include as many as you need in a single entry.

Each participant can submit up to three entries per category.

Submitted

Okie, that cinches it! <3 Thanks for the response, sweethearts!

Hi! Am I allowed to add bonus image files for my enemies pack that include versions made by another artist that gave me permission? (They will be credited of course), my pack already has 3 enemies, but I wish to know if adding bonus versions would be okay.

Host

If the person who created the entry is different from the person submitting it, that’s perfectly fine—as long as both parties have given their permission.

Additionally, when you refer to a “bonus,” are you indicating that you wish to add extra files to an existing submission, or do you intend to submit it as a completely new entry?

*Just a friendly reminder, each participant can submit up to three entries in each category.

Submitted (1 edit)

Hello thanks for the response! What I wanted to ask was that I wish to add extra files for an already existing submission, but these extra files are just different versions of my submission done by a different artist who gave me permission to use their own drawing or interpretation of my submission. Hope I'm making sense. My submission already has 3 enemy battlers in it done by me, so I just wish to add extra files (to serve as bonus content) done by another artist for me with their own interpretation of my battlers.

Host(+1)

It’s perfectly fine to add extra files within the submission period!

Submitted

Thanks so much for the response! <3

Good afternoon! From what I understood there will be no category for VFX/Animations, is that right?

Host(+1)

If you'd like to submit animation or VFX assets, you're more than welcome to enter them under the “Other” category!

Submitted

Thank you so much! :)
