Hello! This is a pretty peculiar entry: the story is interesting and has its twists, and it's pretty fitting for a game jam game. (having to find the 3 items to "hack" though didn't feel much realistic to me - they could've been parts of an encryption key for example). The artstyle overall helped a lot with the experience!
The meta approach makes a lot of sense and really feels diegetic instead of random 4th wall break.
I've gotta say though that even if the gameplay idea was interesting, there was not really a challenge in the entire story at all. Everything you have to do gets explicitly told by the game itself: type "msg XXX", write "join YYY", input "cd ZZZ"... At no moment I had to stop thinking what I was supposed to do.
The idea is pretty cool but... I don't feel like it's been used in the best way.
I streamed the game, if you're curious you can see the VOD here:
Thank you for playing and streaming my game, I appreciate it! I just watched the VOD, thank you for sharing.
It was definitely challenging to balance the difficulty level with this game. I had an initial fear that without telling the player what to do, they might not realize the meta mechanics of switching between the folder/finding files; I'm glad to see that you and the others I've seen stream it didn't have any issues with that though. I maybe leaned a bit much on making it easier rather than difficult in that regard to make sure it wasn't too hard to figure out, but that's something I'll definitely work on going forward.
I really like the idea of the encryption key or combining a lot of the mechanics to make more challenging puzzles though. If I had more time to work on the game, I would definitely expand upon the puzzles to add a lot more of that. Thanks for the feedback as well, I'll definitely take this with me into my future games that I develop!

Really cool game! I loved the typing mechanic that really changed from more classical RPGs. Also the way one receive hints is clever and serves the immersion even more.
The story was straightforward enough to keep me going until the end, good job!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Haha, I should've added my username as an Easter egg. 😂 I had a few in there but didn't think of that one!
Nice game, kept me engaged the whole way. Presentation works for the game. But I was hoping that there would be more complex puzzles where you'd have to think with the different commands, but I guess that's better suited for something else than a jam release. Anyway, good job!
Thank you! Yeah I ended up spending a lot of time getting some of the more simple puzzles working to focus on the core mechanics, but with more time I definitely would've loved to add some more complex puzzles.
Wow! This has been my favorite so far of the Game Jam. It excecutes on its concept flawlessly. Creating files in the game folder to root through is a really nice touch and not something I expected from an rpgMaker game! The artwork was really cute (I love Murou's little button nose) and everything in the game just slotted together really nicely. The game was very well paced, with only the Kick section really outstaying it's welcome. The writing was lovely. An all around hit!
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. In version 03, I added an optional kick assist feature that you can turn on in the options menu to hopefully make that level a bit easier and more fun too.
This is great! Using the terminal for gameplay purposes would be a really cool mechanic in any game, but in an rpg maker game is much more impressive. Other than that good visuals, UI and sound design. Really cool!
Thank you, I'm glad that mechanic was fun from a player perspective! I always have a lot of fun with pushing the limits of RPG Maker with custom JavaScript code. :)
This is honestly a cute and creative "hacker" type game. Honestly, the whole gimmick thing is even inspiring me in some aspects.
The "kicking" mechanic aside, everything else was pretty fun and entertaining using the prompt commands to let you change or observe beyond the "expectations". I also liked the little story and twist as well. The art style works wonders using a mixed irl image and avatars as a means of communication.
Honestly, not much to complain besides that one part. This is a solid entry. Well done.
Thank you so much! I'm really happy that you had fun with it. I really enjoyed making a game to fit into this theme and I learned so much while making it!
My beta tester also had some feedback on improving the kick mechanic, so I made a new update to add a "kick assist" feature to make that puzzle a little easier to get through and hopefully more fun!
