Hi. If I have understood well swarm warriors are something armadillos have to fight to prevent their return to forests. The main goal is to preserve empty forests, right? So swarm warriors are part of the factions but at the same time enemies of the faction. And enemies of other factions.
Correct!
I really like the dynamics of this faction. There are a lot of cool concepts with the swarm threatening other factions and Chitinbane being really good at fighting them.
With their scoring being based on the forests containing swarms I'm sure they will be stronger or weaker depending on the map that is played on. But that's some of the fun part of the game, figuring out what is going to make a good matchup when you choose your faction.
One of my favorite factions from this RootJam ! Really creative and a great use of this year's prompt !
I really like the schedule action system, even though it felt like you needed to do a LOT a planning at the start of Daylight to really have a solid turn. The two (and three) drawings on the schedule tiles really helped understand how it worked.
A faction of exterminators trying to eradicate a factionless swarm is a great idea, and i feel like you implemented it really well ! It took me a few turn to start scoring before I had enough militia to prevent more scarabs from spawning. In the end, I found that the best way to go about the swarm was to not even try to fight it, just baiting it from clearing to clearing. Because when all scarabs are in clearings at the beginning of the turn, none of them can be placed in the forest, and that's how I scored big x).
Excellent faction all around, would love to play it again !
Leave it to endgamer to introduce fun new mechanics and new pieces into a faction! The schedule tiles are so fun and a really unique way to interact with your own faction board!
I also really appreciate their policing mechanics, the dispersion of your enemy into nearby clearings to damper your scoring is a really cool way to slow them down.
Factionless warriors is also a new mechanic that is really thematic, fitting, and fun for these guys! And I'm glad you've also given em lots of cardboard and tons of material for other factions to interact with.
It's tough to juggle all of these "wants" in a faction, but you did a great job once again!
I love this. The Chitinbane being in the game seems like it would add another level of drama, hordes amassing in the forest as a desperate company of armadillos races across the board to set up countermeasures and take down the beasts.
I feel like you could have given some more words to the schedule action as it's (by my understanding) a little strange and you have the extra space. I do wish the swarm was a bit less passive because you need outposts all across the board to score points, but opponents worried about about the swarm will have a better time stopping you from keeping any bait rather than letting you set up in a clearing.
