Good game with good vibes - exactly what I have in mind about GB. The controls are well done - maybe the game could be harder, but it is good enough. Really good sounds and an addictive background track . The main aesthetic is pleasant and deserves our respect because of restrinctions imposed by the GB graphics. You made a solid entry. Now I want to know more about this engine. Thank you for this travel in the past ++

Thanks for playing my game! I did have to rush a bit to get the levels done in time, so I can understand if the later ones feel too easy. For the engine, I just used Game Maker Studio 2, with a visual effect to make sure that most of the sprites stay on the pixel grid.

This really gave me the Game Boy vibes. The sound design is everything. Nice work on the SFX and on the music. I really liked the graphics as well and the game is fun. I did managed to get to the second level, but I died there because of the enemies with the pointing fingers. Those were unbeatable to me lol.
One thing that I think can be improved is the first boss battle. It has way too much HP. I found myself just shooting at it for at least 2 minutes, it got frustrating and boring due to it beign so hard to will and also losing a lot of lives there. Another thing I think may improve overall game feel is if you made the dragon shoot faster but damaging less. I think that would make the shooting feel more responsive.

Thanks for trying out my game! The Scripulous Fingore enemies are pretty tough — they really force you to switch your weapons between slots to get around their fingers. As for the first boss, are you talking about the Mimic, or Giant Gazer? If the Mimic, then I can see why it could take a bit long, since you won't have access to any strong weapons at that point. Thanks for the feedback about that and the shooting mechanic; if I pursue this game in the future, then I'll see what I can do to make the early bosses less tedious and the shooting more responsive.

This is a lot of fun, and I love the weapon system! Being able to equip projectiles to directions is a really cool idea. I also really liked the manual txt you included, it had a lot of personality and did feel like the kind of thing that might come with a cartridge back in the day. Graphics and sound were nice, and it was cool that you even managed to include cutscenes. I did find that the screen scroll was really slow, so it felt like it took forever to get through each level, which made dying near the end of a level a pain. Overall, great work on this!

Really interesting weapon system, and feels just like an old cartridge! Unfortunately, I ran into a bug on stage 2: every time I respawned, the game spawned me inside the floor, preventing me from getting any further.

Developer

Sorry about the bug. I think it's to do with the system the game uses to push you back to playable space if you get crushed by a wall; I'll try to fix it when I can. Other than that, I'm glad you like the weapon system!

Tough game, well made all around but I still don't understand the upgrade system it's seem very straightfoward incremental upgrade but one can choose different builds?

Developer

Thanks for trying out my game. For the upgrade system, the more weapons you have in a row, the stronger the rightmost weapon in that row is. I'll make sure to try out your game when I can!

Oh is simple, I never understand upgrade system ahah I ditched the idea early for that reason. By the way really tough story getting back all Smough dragon coins, I'm halfway through 2nd level on easy :D

Looking foward to your thoughts!
