Too bad it doesn't really match the theme, otherwise I would have ranked it way higher. Well executed and working as expected. You should have picked different graphics to match theme.. :)

When we got the two themes to choose between, I was going to cancel, because I had no idea what kind of games which will match the
themes, I got some tips on the forum here, so I tried.
Will this affect the Game jam? Am I out because of this? You say that I should pick different graphics. What graphic should I use to match the theme? I ask because I don't understand what is wrong with a squirrel shooting balloons. :)

So I am not sure where Squirrels shooting balloons fits in there, maybe it's just the narrative of the game that you need to update, like "Squirrel needs to feed starving family, He's the last resort etc etc" or something that links somehow to the theme.

So maybe "The Last Resort" fits better to the game? To shoot the balloons to get food to survive the winter can be the last resort, or something like that. :)
Neat interpretation of the Space Invaders mechanic, not sure how it tied into the themes - the art was cute and colorful!
Was fun to play and liked that the speed increases step by step.
As you said in another comment, I think you should make this also for mobile with some fine tuning. Good job!

Cool idea, easy to reach high score, from some point onward only the gold nuts matter. Fun mechanic.
Thanks for the comment. I didn't have time to finish the game completely. Maybe I will continue the development of the game and release it for Android. :)
