The first two levels were good... the puzzles worked well and introduced the mechanics... the visuals were clear and easy to parse...
But the third level (the platforming one) was kind of a pain. Pushing blocks with your face is kind of a pain, and first-person platforming is kind of a pain (if there aren't parkour mechanics). I'm surprised my solution of pushing the two blocks on top of each other worked, it felt like if anything went wrong I'd have to restart the level again. Is that level necessary?
I'm curious about where the final level is heading, with the enemies who target you. I'd like to see it all come together. I'd like to use an enemy corpse to activate a button... but then... I suspect the gun isn't ever going to work.
Thank you for taking the time to play my game. I had a big idea but not the skills to implement it. So I cut alot just to make something.
I want to make a stealth game with some physics game play. The gun was used to shoot leaver and supports to drop stuff onto enemies
Sorry I caused you so much pain
It’s not as challenging as I expected and as another player pointed out I also had an issue where I couldn’t see where I was going when holding something, try adding an offset to the blocks position when it’s being held or shrinking it’s size Overall the game is pretty fun and look’s really good, good luck with the jam
ah a portal inspired puzzle game how original ;p lol.. I also made a portal inspired puzzle game for the jam. Overall I liked the whole style with some original puzzles. I used this tut for the pick system, it might help yours with more control. Otherwise I had fun playing and good luck with the Jam :)
I don't recall there being a button on the ceiling in any of the Portal maps (at least the official ones) so that was I nice addition to their formula. I like the extra mechanic of having the right coloured boxes on the right switches. That opens the door (pun fully intended) for even more puzzle mechanics.
The gameplay and design felt pretty solid (if a bit short!), but I had some issues with controls. The sensitivity was perhaps a bit too much? I also had some issues with seeing where I was going while holding a block.
In the third level, I had some troubles getting the crates where they were supposed to go, and there was a place where it felt like I could get stuck (specifically, accidentally dropping the crate on the wrong side of the fence).
Having more polished controls would have gone a long way in making me feel like I was more in control and thus focusing on solving the puzzles more than fighting with making the character do what I wanted them to do.
I moved the hand point but moved it back - the box drags on the ground too much - the Player is short on purpose.- I want to build puzzles where you need momentum to through the box, but I just ran out of time. :(
If you move the mouse fast and release the box, it goes flying.
Thanks again for giving it a try.
