Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • Innovative concept with impressive graphics but (intentionally) frustrating to play!
  • Holy!? This game is broken in the best way possible 😂 I was happy to get past the first level, but deeply struggled with the next haha. But great mechanics. A frustrating but fun experience, lol.

How does your game bring our theme, The Error is the Feature, to life?
Our game leans into chaos by randomizing the controls, as well as randomizing the position of the controls and what the controls are. Tied together with a cycling platforming game, this creates chaos with fast hand movements to switch movement keys, in order to complete the time trials.

Lovely idea, I hate it!

Overall it was quite fun in that ragebait-y way and i ended up trying it for way too long. i ended up giving up in the apartment roof level, i got to the wooden piers a handful of times but didn't manage to tie it all together.

few bits of feedback:

1. The game reaaaly begs for some sound effects, doesn't need much, but something other than that track on loop would have been nice. A crash sound, maybe a sound for the pedals, a sound for the keys changing. This to me honestly was the biggest issue.

2.one of the more frustrating things for me was when the new keys would spawn out of the screen, so i couldn't actually see the keys. that killed a fair few runs for me.

3. i think the instant death when touching obstacles/trashbins is maybe a  bit too harsh, having some sort of min velocity component to the collision i think would feel a lot better.

I agree with the other commenters on maybe limiting key combinations to one side of the keyboard, I think it would make it a bit more accessible while still keeping the ragebaity difficulty. i have big hands so it's not as much of a problem for me as i could almost span my hand between the left arrow and 1 keys.

But overall a really fun concept and it had me sucked in for a bit even though i felt like i don't want to keep playing haha. Great Job!

Also, really nice looking itch page !

Hey thanks for the feedback !

I'm the sound person in the group and I hear you... I basically only had 4-5 hours to make all the sound during the game jam so I could only make a fun loop and that's it. If this game goes further I clearly plan on making SFX and more music !

I couldn'T!))

Very unique concept. I like the juxtaposition of the cute visuals and audio, yet an absolutely rage-inducing entry haha.

On the gamplay side, however, even with the intended rage mechanics, I thought this was too hard. Since pedaling is done with the mouse, there's only one hand left for you to do the steering. But when the randomized control buttons are set to be all of your keyboard, I found a lot of the key combinations will just flat out impossible to play with one hand.

Overall not a bad idea, but it needs more balancing to be more playable.

these controlls are the dumbest thing ive ever seen. absolute masterpiece!

Nice art and very unique concept! This was quite challenging, but I made it to the rooftop level. The hitbox felt a little large at times, especially when hitting cones in the construction level. Other than that, I enjoyed this!

Great work!

Fun game and a unique idea. The levels were challenging but really doable. Nice work.

Really unique idea. I loved the art and the gameplay. Some of the movement required 2 hands on the keyboard, and use of the mouse to keep yourself moving forward, which was a bit impossible. Perhaps, limiting the left/right to keys that are closer together so that the player can still keep their hand on the mouse. Juggling all the movement was definitely challenging.

Overall, I think that you guys built something very impressive here for 3 days. Incredible job!

I forgot how to balance myself after this, im happy to see a rat game in this jam i mean rat games should be everywhere.

btw i feel like i tasted my own medicine cuz we relied on the same core mechanic.

I love the art and the concept was extremely creative. Ngl this was too hard for me but it would make a great rage game :)

I love the controls, especially when speeding like a devil. I have a special fondness for games with ultra clunky controls and there's just that

P.S. rat type beat detected

Developer

No gamejam without at least one rat game. You know the drill.
Thank you for the comment :)

This is my favorite idea so far! i love wacky control schemes and this one definitely drove me insane. Everything from the level design to the music is so masochistic. Got to the third level and couldnt figure out how to get past the trash cans :( Im bit of a god gamer but I couldnt tell if i got played or not

Developer

Everything has been tested...once...
Just kidding, we tested it a few times. It is tricky but completable.

Thank you for the comment and of course for enduring the pain playing the game :D

Super creative idea! Debris flying everywhere, controls switching, a mouse with a top hat, this game definitely leans into the chaos! Maybe it's a skill issue on my end, but I found this quite challenging. I wonder if the game needs a timer to indicate when the controls are about to switch? Or maybe there's a slight brief pause when the controls switch? Or maybe I'm just bad/unlucky haha, nice work for 72 hours!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing our game! yes the aim was chaos and we hoped to deliver in all the wacky ways possible (including a distinguished gentleman) XD the game is definitely designed to be quite challenging and to catch the player off guard with the controls so you don't get too comfortable and expecting the change! though we appreciate the feedback and thank you for playing our game!
