Description
This a chiptune soundtrack, made with the soundchip of the Nintendo Game Boy and compatible with GB Studio, a Game Boy game engine. It's the main theme of a classic 8 bit RPG, which is what the title of the theme and the provided picture suggested to me. I'd have loved to make more tracks for this imaginary game, but unfortunately this time I'm really "crunching" (I finished this track in less than three hours!) and I won't have time for more. Still, I had fun! I also created a little pixel-art scene as a cover picture, to showcase more or less what the game would look like.

Theme

Chronicles of the Azure Sky: The White Dragon's Melody
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
This track is inspired by classical RPG soundtracs. Both the text theme and the picture theme made me think of fantasy RPGs, so that's what I set out to do!

Great sounding track ! The composition of the track is really pleasant, and considering the time you spent on it and the limitations of the GameBoy's soundchip, this is pretty impressive so congrats !

Never seen such an editor, what program is that? That's pretty neat.  I think it's fascinating that it's structured in blocks.

Anyways, you made a great melody for a fantasy RPG on a vintage device, well done!

Thank you!

It's a tracker! It's how computer (and video game) music was made back in the 80s/90s. It's almost like programming the music. There's plenty of modern trackers as well, but they're more niche now. The one in the video is the integrated tracker in GB Studio, a modern game engine used to make Game Boy games.

I don't know how the Gameboy sound chip works (or how any other DAW besides FL works) but from your video it looks really confusing so props to using it so well!

Developer

Hahaha, it isn't as hard as it seems, I promise! Thank you.
