This was a lovely read, thank you! I think art like yours is really needed in the game "industry" (the fact that we call it industry is very telling in itself), now more than ever. You inspire a lot of people, myself included, by pushing the limits of what games are "supposed to be", and I want to thank you for that. It must be very hard, going against the current all the time, but it really is worth it! In my case, your games and blogs encourage me to think, and to experiment, and do things just for the passion or the fun of it, not for profit. That's very valuable. To me, you're one of the most significant people I know in games, precisely because of how different and unique your work is and how far it's gone (seriously, being at MoMA is, like... amazing? How many gamedevs can say that? xD).
It's a shame that most of us can't make a living out of our art, but still, even without a lot of financial resources, nowadays there's plenty of amazing tools for self-expression through games and software and I love it (I love love love GB Studio, for example... I'm a huge Game Boy fan, so when that engine came out I was ecstatic. The Game Boy scene is insane right now). Even if I can't earn a living or do it full-time, I'll still keep making games, because I enjoy making them and I'd love for them to touch other people. I work either alone or in a team with another person, and I agree that keeping it small just lends itself to making more personal and unique projects. I love working that way. Even if the "industry" is in shambles, I'll still find joy in my creations. <3 I hope you can do so, as well! My best wishes to you.
