Message from the artist
There are 14 tracks in total, 11 of them are normal songs and 3 of them are alternative versions of the bossfights (featuring voicelines).
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
I interpreted "inside my world" as something among the lines of greed and selfishness. These two words are basically the entire motive behind June's actions. It also shows in the little voicelines by her in the songs.

Holy snap this is pretty nuts. If you ever have like a breakdown vid or something I would watch just to learn the process.
This one was really fun and energetic! It kinda reminded me of the pizza tower OST in a great way - lots of punchy and crunchy and high energy sounds, and the tracks gave me a restless feeling. Could totally see this in basically any professional action arcade-y themed game (or even some others too) - super great job, and very crisp production!
thanks for ur comment!! I am a huge fan of pizza tower, and i am glad that it shows :)
"A-alright, let me remind you how to listen to music, June. Boy, this is a good idea..."
Ahem... before trying to describe each track, I would like to say a few words: First of all: IT'S F**KING AWESOME. Secondly: the whole soundtrack is the biggest funky thing in this whole jam. Third: MADNESS... I decided to dance to each track! (And almost twisted my leg)
BIG BAD CITY - Heh, I see in front of my eyes the main menu, where the background is a slightly animated slide show depicting all the madness of this BIG BAD CITY. (Someone's teeth were knocked out with a bat. And they broke their leg. An ear was torn off... Oh, no... Another leg was torn off. Robbed... RIP)
SELECT YOUR TARGET! - Funky chiptune... I hear a police siren... Am I really listening to this soundtrack legally?)
REMINDER (TUTORIAL) - In this sigh of the speaker, I hear at the same time pain, disappointment, a complete lack of hope in anything good, an unsuccessful career as a snail racing commentator and lack of sleep. (I give a 100% guarantee, he turns on the sound of the whistle on the tape recorder, because the announcer sold the relief whistle to buy self-defense equipment from Jun)
CLUTCH HITTER - "F**K YOU..." Heh... I definitely feel the atmosphere of not the most dangerous, but definitely a very unpleasant opponent (Although something tells me that June himself is not the holiest person in the whole ghetto)
JUNKYARD - HEHE... IT'S TIME FOR KIDS AND GARBAGE!!!1! (It's the same thing, right?) and... a MINIGUN?! ...help
MONEY WALKS - Stop... Do I understand correctly that he stole the president's wallet? Oh, sh*t...
CONGRATS! YOU SUCK - Heh... It's a shame :_| (I like it)
RESULTS! - HOORAY! THE RESULTS! And how well am I doing?:
>(OK SCORE)< - Well, well... I'm not very good at playing games anyway
>(GOOD SCORE) <- Hehe... At least I could have done better... but I did well!
>(PERFECT SCORE)< - I ALWAYS KNEW THAT I WAS THE BEST!!!1! MUHAHAHA!!!!!111!!
>(AWFUL SCORE)< - alt+f4
This is the singularity of funky. The funky collapsed into his own weight, and there's no more atoms of funky you can cram in!!!
Well, this is just a complete and awesome entry. Little less coherent with the theme I guess, but still an awesome submission :o
A 5 star project, nothing more to say
INCREDIBLE!
This is potentially my favorite overall entry in the entire jam!
I am honestly speechless it is so good I have no words for how it could possibly be any better other than that there needs to be more and the game needs to be real!
The art style is fantastic and I had a blast reading through the game description!
The voice lines were so good and well placed and well done. All the goofy sound effects were so funny and fit so well!
My literally ONLY criticism is that it doesn't really fit the theme at all but if that would have prevented me from hearing this OST then I am happy you didn't follow it!
The Main Theme and the Boss themes are the best!
11 BANGERS IN A WEEK. FUNKY LIKE MARC REBILLET DAMN-
yo pix and frozzy! rated your ost the first day but just realized i never commented 😭.
this ost is p e a k. easily my favorite entry of entire ost jam by far. the music is funky, quirky, fun, and the style is exactly the type of music i’m into. from the instrumentation, sfx, and voice lines (i fricken love the voice lines), this ost is just bursting with character. my favorite track is clutch hitter, the lead goes crazy.
generally, i don’t listen to the music of jam submissions after i rate them, but your ost is literally in my music rotation rn 🔥 did an 8 mile run the other day to your ost, it goes so hard.
your game idea is just so cool too, and i saw below you’re actually turning into an actual game 💪 let me know where i can follow BOSSBEAT’s development, i will be on the lookout o7
yall are insane, but it’s awesome. you deserve one of those top spots imo
hi gang !! thanks for the comment :)
I'll be posting sneak peaks of BOSSBEAT on my youtube channel, and i'm aiming to release the first one somewhere in mid august. My channel is linked in my discord profile, you can go and check it out there (cuz im not sure if i can send links like this here)!!
Oh, and i'll be rating ur entry in a minute, like I promised!!!
sick !! just found your channel!!
this OST is incredibly funky and super fun to listen to! as someone who has submitted the same number as tracks as you, i'm impressed with how much you've done in such a short time. your creativity is truly top notch with this submission. you've put so much thought into this - great job!
if i can be SUUUUPER nitpicky (i struggled to tackle the same thing in my submission), repetition is truly my only thing for you. its really easy to follow a repetitive bassline since game OSTs are meant to be one cohesive unit, but as the soundtrack progresses, some tracks feel somewhat similar. i'm absolutely OBSESSED the funk feel, though!
overall, though, your tracks are truly amazing and very memorable. i love the funk feel, and i would LOVE to see this in a game!! i like your use of sound effects to add personality to tracks is great. i definitely got kind of a splatoon feel if that was any sort of inspo! keep it up, and please LMK if you do decide to implement this into a game!
thank you very much for your kind words and criticism! really glad you liked it!! Splatoon has been in the back of my mind since like the beginning of this year so maybe thats why you got that feeling :)
speaking of implementing this into a game... y'all could use a little sneak peak :P
OOOH!!! looking Awesome, thanks for sharing!!!!!!
Absolute amazing!! Lot of work there, Im really impressed with your work, really love the soundtrack and the idea of the game in general, there is such a lot of personality. My respect for you and your team, this is amazing job!
The amount of effort that went into this is unreal! Some real top notch work here. Your compositional style is really unique and these tracks were bangin'. Extremely creative on all fronts, and I adore the work that got put in to make this feel like a real game. The art is super rad as well!
Big Bad City - Holy Funk! Really groovy, big sounding and fun! Real nice break chops in there! For sure a bop!
Select Your Target! - Nice use of funk and an 8-bit melody into a more fun synth funk and back again really bouncy!
REMINDER - For sure a good starting tutorial track, really good use of percussive elements used in this track. that final solo lead line was a really nice touch!
CLUTCH HITTER - Nice and action-packed with some punch to it, gives me some old Sega vibes but sounds modernized!
JUNKYARD - Another fun track, like the transition to a more jungle rhythm in the latter half of the piece, don't have a lot to say but really enjoyed this one!
MONEY WALKS - Like the intensity the track progresses into again sounding very SEGA-like!
CONGRATS! YOU SUCK. + Results - Personally I think the Game Over Result should be less intense than the Awful score but that's my thoughts besides that, the energy from Awful all the way to perfect is balanced and sound in place!
Amazing work!
bro is actually going insane 🔥🔥🔥
While this kinda genre isn't my personal cup of tea, I can still appreciate that you put a TON of work into this!
You very clearly know what you're doing, both with the music and the art, and the page makes this look like it's from an actual, real game.
Good work
Very nice! Quirky sense of composition and the production is great as well!
Such a unique style ! A great surprise! Honestly its sounds really clean for me ^^
Really funky soundtrack and great energy, the cohesion in the style blend every tracks and its really well done.
Sometimes it get a bit too repetitive and the mix is maybe a bit too dry.
Overall great job ^^
heyo ty for ur kind words!! could you please elaborate on the mix part, though? i'd love to know when and where my mix is dry :3 ty in advance
The quality of all of this is super impressive, its dripping with character with all the sound effects and voicelines scattered throughout, and you both blended your styles together incredibly well to create an incredibly strong submission!!
what?! This is crazy good work! I've listened to a whole lot of Jet Set, so I absolutely love this. And you have the premise to a whole game? Keep doing what you are doing!
As a matter of fact, yes. Right now we're discussing the full game concept and all that stuff, so if we get it right, we'll actually make a full game! Also thanks for all the support!
