Description
This short score belongs to an RPG featuring sentient toy cats made of various materials, ranging from plush to porcelain, metal to wax. They were created by an artificer to bring joy to the children of the village, but unfortunately... He's kind of not alive anymore. And the cats do not know this! Our main character, Dandi, sets off on a quest to find him and meets Icarus (or Russ, for short) and Tsugi on his journey.

The trio encounters both friends and foes as they make their way through the workshop, and all things considered, things are going pretty well until they come across the Unkindness: A group of crows that's particularly interested in stealing the toy cats (especially shiny ones) and taking them to their nest. Icarus gets kidnapped by one, causing the remaining party members to venture into the outside world for the first time in order to save him.

We used Dorico (Resident // Cryptid) & Musescore (Angelica) to compose and I (Resident // Cryptid) used Logic to produce the tracks. I think we have a pretty fun variety of things: a character theme, two area themes, and an "event" theme.

Message from the artist
Angelica & I are super excited about this! We had some technical difficulties along the way but are happy with the four tracks we did manage to finish. :)

Theme

Inside my world

How does it fit the theme?
We chose to write our music based on the theme "Inside My World", having the cats start off inside their own little world, the workshop. You could also see it as this being inside the artificer's world.

This is exactly what a sentient toy cat would sound like, I love the choices of instruments y'all used!

Hey another Dorico user! Glad Musescore got some love too. Musesounds are so good to work with (mostly lol).

The cat-like synth is adorable and super fitting. The vibes on this soundtrack are awesome with some great contrast between songs. The Nest of Unkindness is probably my favorite. It feels very goofily nefarious in a Grant Kirkhope way. Great job overall.

Your art is super cute btw!

Tsugi's theme - like the strumming i need to figure out how to do something similar i was really into that.  Groovin with the alley cats - i was definitely in west side story territory, very classic life of the streets music .  Icarus the candle cat captured like a cute innocent vibe.  And the nest of the unkindness had superb boss level vibes.

Had tons of fun listening to this overall, was pleased to have the opportunity to rate it.  Good work!

Oh this is just so awesome and hilarious. I love that it sounds a little bit Baroque and then it's just meowing. I can totally picture this game.

Make this game, and name one of the cats Henry Purrrcell.

Such an original composition! "Groovin' with the Alley Cats" is simply awesome! You know how to use your synths.

I mean it's cat sounds and synths, what's not to love about it - love the vibe you went for!

The bassline in Groovin with the Alley Cats is KILLER, really cool theming with the cats and meowing synths. Sounds great and a lot of fun, great work to the both of you!

You know your sound library very well! This is too good!

FENOMENAL WORK. This is my favorite entry so far. Very autumn vibes. It remainds me of one of my childhood games, Chronicles of Nyania . It's also about cats in a fantasy world, but it's a shame that they used basic RPG Maker music.  This would fit purrfectlly to this game. No complains, just love Fav Track : Groovin' with the Alley Cats

I do love weird synth instruments and there's plenty of that here in the tracks, as well as, of course, meow synth aplenty. The bass-line on the alley cat song sets the tone of it well.

Super cute! I think the instrumentation is super clever and really helps characterize the story of each song, watch the balancing because sometimes when the melody was being passed back and forth between multiple instruments there was a noticeable change in volume so it didn't carry through as seamlessly as it could have, but still a very nice entry I enjoyed listening to a lot!

This one instantly left a very strong impression on me, the first track especially just completely has the right sound for the type of game you've described and is very distinctive, as well as sounding great! Love the little meowish melodies and all of the rest of it.

All of the other tracks fit similarly well and would definitely be what I wanted and expected to hear if I opened up a game like this.

The jazzy second track in particular definitely has that alley cat feel, which I think really worked.

YEAH MEOWSYNTH

What a fun and cute cat soundtrack! Each track has such a unique character, I can totally imagine this in a game full of cats and their shenanigans. Great cover art too, great job all round!

Tsugi's Theme: Cool progression. Love the clock like sound. Love the ending on the major tonic triad.
Groovin' with the Alley Cats: Groovy! Hearing some connections in the chord progression here and in the first track. My favorite here.
Icarus the Candle Cat Wants to Fly: Haha that unresolved dominant chord ending was cool. Nice and bouncy track. The cat sounds are growing on me!
The Nest of the Unkindness: Those mean crows. Really gives a sort of villain in a lighthearted story vibe.

Great work!

Everybody wants to be a cat, cus a cat's the only cat who knows where it's at!

Super fun music! I'm sure the game would be equally fun, I'm disappointed it doesn't exist (yet). I love Tsugi's Theme and The Nest of the Unkindness, and I love that you included a swingin' alleycat song, alleycats always deserve to have jazz accompaniment.

Great work!

Ridiculously good…. To be honest I don’t have really any critique or anything, it’s so good I want to play the game now ahahah

It's so cute ! The music definitely fits your game, and it is really catlike. I'm a big fan of Groovin with the Alleycats. Its so silly and fun :D

Funny cat jam good. My favorite track is definitely "Icarus the Candle Cat Wants to Fly". Strong melodic presence and groove. I also quite like the catchy bouncy bass in the last track "The Nest of the Unkindness", it gives a lot of personality to the music. I do hope the lead melodic synth sound design can vary a bit more across all tracks. Overall good vibe and a enjoyable listening experience from beginning to end. Great job!

I enjoy how strong each of the tracks are melodically, all very whimsical and goofy. "Icarus the Candle Cat Wants to Fly" is my favorite
