Description
There's a short title screen track, a track for the in-game music, and a "danger" track for when the player is avoiding aggressive sea creatures.
I made these in Ableton, all tracks are loopable (though the versions uploaded fade out after the loop point)
(Note: There's a tape start sound at the beginning of the "In-Game" track download. It's not there in the youtube version. I don't think it sounds bad, but it was a glitch when exporting, so the youtube version is what I intended)
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
Tells the story of a fish-like being learning about their world through exploring the ocean

Good... It was creepy, lol
Thanks for a sleepless night!
I really liked the percussion on the danger track! It felt very horror-esque and I thought it was very cool!
I think the use of detuning to create the ambience here was really interesting, and the lightly used percussion helped keep a softer feel while driving the tracks forward like in Swim Away. Read through the comments a bit, and I agree with the comment about the reverb. I understand that it can create a really cool effect that can almost feel like another instrument, but you do also want to make sure you dont have the feedback so high as to the point it starts to muddle everything else, as you can have that gorgeous reverby sound that can add to a work without causing as many mixing problems, which is what i think alpikespot was trying to say. Good work though, really did enjoy this! Just trying to clarify more what turning down the reverb could accomplish without sacrificing much of your personal vision :D
this sounds great, i love your use of microtonality and it sells the dream-like, wateriness really well. all in all a really cool effect, nice work <3
i LOVE the mysterious vibe in these tracks, and the use of dissonance/detuning is sweet. keep it up!!
Wow this is a compelling little OST. I breezed through it once and listened again and now am on my third listen. It's subtle and so quick but so evocative. It conveys the mood effectively in a minimalistic way but without losing interest. The detuning is masterfully used. The difference between the main game music is great--continues the theme with more urgency and anxiety. I loved it! Thanks for making and sharing.
This is so sick, you nailed the use of dissonance here and created your unique sound. It's also mixed nicely and pleasant to listen to.
I'm glad you like my sound :) Thanks for listening
I think the feedback on the reverb is a bit too much on the 1st track, but I liked the aquatic feel on the OST, nice work on the atmosphere!
Thanks for listening! I appreciate the feedback, but I would encourage you to listen again and imagine that the feedback is its own instrument and see if you still think it's too much. Thanks again for the kind words :)
I'm a huge fan of the unsettling dissonance and just overall unease when listening, great work! Dissonance is a great tool for exactly that when used correctly and you nailed it. Super creative! <3
I'm glad you appreciate that :) Thanks for commenting
I like the dissonant sound of the main in-game music, a very unusual harmony, it really adds to the atmosphere.
The title screen track evokes a melancholic feeling, which is emphasized by an unearthly low-frequency voice, I imagine ancient ruins on another planet.
The “danger” track is moving and keeps you in suspense, as it should be.
In general - good work!
Thanks for the comment! I'm so happy you liked it
That's great! There is something unsettling in this tracks, and i really liked it.
I'm glad! I wanted it to be simultaneously unsettling and comforting
Love, love the vibe from the detuned instruments, it portrays the angst of being alone in the ocean really well. Great stuff!
I'm glad you liked the tuning! That's something I love experimenting with
I love how haunting and uneasy this soundtrack is. The vocal samples are a really great touch too. Love the images your pieces conjure up in my mind :D
I appreciate that, I'm glad you enjoyed :)
Wow what an acid trip! I really like all the dissonant work and quite enjoy the whole « experimental » ambiant feel of it.
The theme you put on the description I can actually feel quite well, and the dissonance helps on feeling the disorientation of the fish.
Great job!
I'm so glad you liked it! I'd love to keep working on this without the time crunch and make it into a full game
That would be rad! I'll follow you to see if you do end up doing it :)
