Description
Genre:

I don't quite know what it would be called but it's a moody, acoustic vibe designed to fit the aesthetic of the picture theme

The game:

I imagine the game would be some sort of stealth-ish metroidvania (probably not focused on combat), where you play as a runaway in a sort of medieval world.
The game concept was meant to be very simple, as i imagine that the lore and stuff would be a big part of the game itself (but i didn't get to do that because who has the time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

What each track means:

The tale: it's the main menu theme and introduces the player to the vibe of the whole soundtrack, in addition to also introducing the player to a motif that would be explored in the rest of the game (which i didn't do a lot, since this is just a fraction of what i imagine the whole game would be)
The forest: this song would play in the first few areas of the game (a forest), in which the player would be running away from some sort of authority (hence the stealth part of the game concept)
The village: a safe but sort of mischievous place, the player would meet a lot of unique people on this village (npcs that would help you unlock more powers and all that jazz)
Deals and deals: plays as the theme to a shop in the previously mentioned place (maybe some sort of traveling merchant)
Adios: a song that would play in the credits of the game (and that's basically it)

The composing process:

Most of the ideas explored here were achieved by just messing around with instruments until it got the right feel (aka the "noodle around for lots of time until something comes together" approach)
There are a few things noteworthy though, like the clarinet being a representation of the player (and/or the forest) and the melodic motif in "The tale", "Deals and deals" and the middle section of "Adios" being the same/ a slight variation of the same thing.

DAWs used:

As i don't have a proper microphone to record my acoustic guitar, i had to use BandLab on my phone to record it, but for the rest (and most) of the entire process, i used FL studio 20 (using mostly xpand!2 for additional instruments)

Message from the artist:
i'll sleep for a thousand years after this

Theme:

Runaway
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The soundtrack was designed on the aesthetic of the picture theme, but also the game concept is centered around some sort of runaway

This is great! The instruments all work very well, and I can easily picture the game just through the music! My favorites are "The Tale" and "Adios." They're perfect capstones for the soundtrack as a whole. Well done!

I love the different approach your music took for the game.  Honestly after hearing the first theme, I didn't expect the change of atmosphere you created with the tracks that came later on. In all, you  expressed your ideas in a unique way for each track.

Love the first track, gave me chills! Always love a good chromatic descent progression. And then the humorous/sneaky track right after gives a nice mix of emotions in the OST! Same with the 3rd track. Deals and Deals is so nice! Definitely gets me in the vibe to shop! And then bringing back the chromatic descent in Adios. A pleasant outro!

Overall an excellent OST, and The Tale is definitely my favorite!

Very nice tracks with an original humoristic mood, good job!

This is one of the only other submissions I’ve heard with like… a sense of humor. Especially The Village. Great stuff. Love the acoustic guitar, too.

Quirky! So much good clarinet sounds. I am imagining graphics like Overcooked in this game. I'm getting Nintendo Mii creation vibes with the shop song.

sounds great, good choice of instruments for all the tracks

i rlly like how playful the village and shop theme feel (if thats the right word to use) and the drums that come in on the main theme r very big and powerful

very nice guitar playing as well

good job!

So whimsical! It's great! I really like how cohesive this feels.

I love that bassoon (?) in Tales. I also love how the village just feels like such a natural continuation.

The build up in that one is great! It's really nice how the tremolo strings and especially the drums come in later and turn the whole thing into an almost circus feeling. It definitely sounds a bit mischievous and I do get the feeling that if I play too many games with the merchants here I'm gonna get scammed. I do wish this one was a tiny bit longer because I really like where the village is going, but I suppose in a game it would loop.

I also love the shop theme. It is such a shop theme. And with the customers quietly chattering about, it's great!

I really love the world you created with this soundtrack, and I'd love to hear what else you imagine for an expanded world/soundtrack. Great work!

Nice concept!

Track 1: beautiful orchestration here: the gently strumming guitar with the strings and bells is lovely and fitting to the theme.

Track 2: definitely a goofier track-- I immediately think of Luigi's Mansion when I hear this! This is a fun melody, and I actually like the sparseness of the instrumentation, as it adds to the empty feeling of the woods.

Track 3: another fun and upbeat track-- and it's similar in sound to the second track at first, but I love when the drums come in in the middle-- very fun to listen to!

Track 4: The addition of chatter is a great one! This track reminds me of Undertale a bit. I can tell you are having fun composing this stuff, it really shows in the energy and vibrance each track has.

Track 5: My personal favorite part of this soundtrack? It would actually be the length of each track. Instead of looping the same four chords over and over for five minutes, you have a minute-long bite of very good, very varied music with an excellent sound to it. This track is a perfect end to that.

I honestly don't have much advice for you, which is rare... you've got a great compositional voice, expressed each emotion in each track very nicely, and you even have some super cool pixel art! You've got your bases covered, bravo! Keep writing!

Really good music. Since I've made also OST for Forest it was interesting to me to listen to yours. Really good use of instruments and composition is also impressive but the mixing and some sounds didn't made good impression to me
