This was a good one. It built some more lore into the elves and you had a good sense of the characters very quickly. Well done.

That was neat. I enjoyed the Elf v Elf banter. Some phrases seemed a little awkward to me, like "He said, his voice cruel" though that may be personal preference. A very good story overall!

I may be wrong, but due to the formatting, this might be disqualified for being over a page.

It’s a shame, too. I quite enjoyed it, though it did suffer from a few grammatical errors.

Huh. It was one page when I saved it as PDF, but I didn't check it before uploading, and clearly word has mangled it. How annoying!

Your story has heart.  Thanks!

I really enjoyed this concept. The idea that you could then play a game and have an Elemental on a Dark Elf army with this story as the reasoning is great. And it feels like OPR Grimdark. Great job.

Thanks very much. I'm glad you enjoyed it

Great work

I think this entry may have edged its way into my top 5. A couple of cosmetic formatting issues aside, this is a superb bit of grimdark fiction. Best of all, it felt distinctly OPR which was great.

Thanks very much!

I really like how it's still ambiguous if the Elemental has free will or not.

Developer

Thank you! I wanted to keep it lore accurate and I'm not sure if its possible for Elementals to have free will either, so ambiguous it remains :-)

That’s what is so fun with OPR lore now. It feels like it’s supposed to be open ended. Maybe Elementals have free will, maybe they don’t. Maybe some do and some don’t, depending on the Elves that made them? Cool to try and explore.

Cool premise, decent execution consisting of good prose and only slightly clunky dialogue. I'm more interested in what comes next than what just happened - that team up would be great to read more on.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Dialogue I definitely struggle with, so I'm glad it was only slightly clunky! I found writing elves a little challenging.
