Absolutely mind-blown by the art direction on this project. It may be more fantasy than magical realism, but the setting perfectly fits the tapestry aesthetics. As others have mentioned, the movement and boat ride sections can get a bit challenging to handle, but I appreciate the chapter select screen to bypass difficulty spikes if needed. Keep up the good work!

thanks so much! Took lot of testing to get the artwork where I wanted it and to a point where I could roll it out over the space of the jam. Infact learn't alot about time management during this jam. Thanks for playing and try M island on my page if u have time 👍 chapters were included to also allow people to dip in and out of the game and play through at their own time. (Kind of replacing the need to save which I can imagine is a pain to get working) 💚🕹
This was a really neat game! I absolutely loved the linen style graphics and it was a cool story and you had lots of content. Impressive for a game jam. I enjoyed the controls but the camera jitter on the left/right movement was a little jarring, but not so much that it took away from me enjoying the game. I also felt like collision with sprites and areas you couldn't go was a little off, but again not in a detracting way just something to maybe look at if you work on the game more after the jam. Great job! You should be proud!
The graphics are very unique and interesting! The music also fits the game really well.
The only issue I had was that the camera movement often felt like it was pulling back making a very jarring time.
Movement with no diagonal directions made things a little more difficult; and the colliders seem to repel you and feel inconsistent. Which made things overall a lot more difficult to navigate.
But, it was a very interesting and cool game :)
The graphic of the game is just amazing! The style is unique and fits the game very well, alongside the music that adds to the aesthetic. A cons, like the other said, is that the controls feel clunky. Overall, cool game! I liked it!
I think the concept is really strong, but I struggled a bit. The puzzles (like the boat ride and tree climbing) are really clever, but I eventually gave up because I couldn't make it to the next chapter without dying. Graphics are really interesting and the music suits it well. Was a bit difficult to navigate the maps because of the animation and hitboxes.
Really like the graphics ! The story was great, it's a really good work ! But collisions and movements can be improved, and the music was a little repetitive. Also, it's more fantasy than magical realism for me. But overall, the game was really cool !
This looks more like regular fantasy than magical realism, but I hardly thought about that while playing! I had a lot of fun playing this mix of careful sneaking and quick reactions. The story and characters are very charming, and the tapestry style fits perfectly! A wonderful choice for the game's look, definitely one I've never seen before.
The controls feel a bit awkward, however. Sometimes I felt like the character was attached to a rubber band, but I could not really tell when or in which direction it would pull him. It also took me a moment to figure out how to shoot the bow and to jump. But other than that, it was a comfortable balance between challenge and smooth progress.
The music sounds a bit repetitive at times, but I really liked the many variations that were played in different locations and situations.
I liked this a lot! The aesthetic is unique and the variety of gameplay is enjoyable. There are some places where the hitboxes feel a little unfair, and in jumping sections a steadier camera would make it a little less nausea-inducing lol. But overall this is really fun! Great work!
Pros
- Fantastic aesthetics, some of the best I've ever seen in a game. The tapestry art style caught my attention immediately, I love it!
- Character sprites and designs were great!
- I loved how much variety there is in the game. A boat section, a jumping section, a stealth section...simply amazing
- The story is simple but effective. It makes you feel part of one of those old medieval tales.
- Locations, monsters, races and events were perfecly woven together. The world feels very alive!
- The music was very fitting. I loved the game over tune!
- I'd say the magical realism theme was used accordingly. However, when it comes to these kind of settings (similar to LOTR, Narnia, Harry Potter, etc.), it's a bit hard to determine if it's magical realism or just fantasy.
Cons
- I don't know about other players, but I came across a very annoying bug in the final battle with the Owl Witch, more specifically, the section where you have to climb the mountain after avoiding her magic attacks. I fell and I was transported back to the chapter where you are looking for the holy priest and you must avoid the blue goblins by jumping on the trees.
- Collision and movement need improvement.
- In some stages, the music doesn't loop and this affects the atmosphere.
Overall: one of the most original games I've ever played, with fantastic visuals and a very unique art style direction. Amazing work!
The art style is so unique and instantly makes the game standout, very creative and well done! The camera and collisions needed a little bit of more time, which had an impact on my enjoyment. Congratulations on making your game :D
