Just finished playing through this, and oh my, this was an emotional rollercoaster. I liked how the mood shifted throughout the story - good job building up the confusion and then resolving it at the very end. It's a difficult topic that you chose there, but I think you handled it really well.
I also liked the way you integrated the cell phone with the menu, blurring the borders between the game's interface and the story world.
Great work overall, very intriguing!
Thank you so much for playing and your feedback! : )
I've downloaded it so I can finish it later! (I don't have the time now to play through it all)
Of what little I've played so far: I already love it! Everything, down to the achievements, visuals, and music (oh my goodness the music) was an absolute delight. What impressed me the most was that you set the tone perfectly from the first second. In that opening cutscene, I understood exactly what kind of game this was from the music alone. Your ability to make every aspect of this game correlate so well is astounding!
Truly admirable! Have a lovely rest of your day!
Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm also really glad you liked the music so much! To be fair, half of the OST are just inverse versions of the other songs and I also added some paulstretch effects haha (I was running out of time and needed some songs to fill the final sections). But I'm happy with the results and I'm glad to knowthat the music helped with the tone!
Thanks again for your amazing feedback!
I love this game! I'm only a couple of days in, but there's just so much to do! The art is really charming, and the music matches really well. I think the characters are all really interesting and unique so far, and I can really feel the amount of care you put into this project.
It's definitely a slower game, but it really adds to the tension and makes me feel like I'm in the same stir-crazy situation as the characters.
Awesome work!!!
Wow thank you so much! Amazing feedback! Thank you for your kind words! I'm really happy you liked it!
I didn't have enough time to play this all the way through, but I very much liked what I saw and will be returning to it for sure! The art and music perfectly complement the surreal story, and while it could be tedious to go through the same actions again and again, that also ties into the story well. Great work!
Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback! It means a lot! : D
I got very sucked into this game. I loved the graphics and the bizarre and unpredictable storytelling. The music was absolutely excellent.
SPOILERS: The only part I disliked was the ending. I wish there had been a content warning, and I would've preferred to keep exploring the surreal world. Overall is a very well done submission.!
Thank you so much for your feedback! : ) I would have liked to add more surreal sections to explore as well, but unfortunately I was running out of time and the submission period was about to end.
Thanks again!
Oh wow, I really enjoyed my time playing this!! Kudos to you for making it all on your own!! The art in particular stands out so much, and gives so much charm to the world. And the world itself, wow! I wish I could've spent hours walking around in it. Such strange landscapes and characters. Really evocative work. You should be very proud of this!
//SPOILERS FOR GAME BELOW//
The one thing in the game I wasn't sure I liked is the ending where it's all revealed to be a guilt-induced nightmare due to the suicide of Erika. I kind of wish the weird magical world was real, and not just in the main character's head. But despite that, I still really enjoyed my time with the game!
Wow! Amazing feedback! Thank you so much for your kind words! : D it makes me really happy that you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun creating the landscapes and the bizarre characters.
Regarding the //spoilers//
Actually, the guilt induced nightmare is only a theory of Doctor Weir. If you noticed, Malva's mother was behind her father while he was talking to the doctor, and she had been dead for some time (and she looked like a monster). And Erika can communicate through e-mail even though she is dead. So I wouldn't say it's all a nightmare or dream. There's a chance that what you see in that ending isnt' even real life at all!
This is an magnificent game for being made in just a few days. There are a lot of mechanics that are not necessary but they give a plus to the game (such as the achievements). The art is atractive and consistent during the entire game, which made it really incredible, and also the music fits awesomely the scenes. Regarding the story, it's very deep and well constructed, though there were some walking parts (specially near the ending) which were a little unnecessary, though they weren't boring at all.
I'd highly recommend the game as it's very innovative and fun. Congratulations!
Thank you so much for your amazing feedback! I was really amazed by your game so your comment means a lot! : D
Those walking sections at the end were pure filler hahaha, they were just an excuse to complete the 60 days. At times I wished I had named the game "30 days till the world ends" instead.
Thanks again! : D
I'm just amazed that you did this all by yourself, this is the best entry by far. Really good concept, really good dialogue and delivery, (I got the purple end).
Hope we can work on something someday, saludos de México jaja
Wow thank you so much! I am honored by your comment!
Saludos de Argentina!
I see so many great comments, that make me want to play it but even with the download file, it doesn't seem to work... I can't pass after the main menu, I only have a black screen :(
I'm really sorry to hear that! I honestly don't know what could be the cause of it : (
The game hooks me right from the intro, with its music and the diary entry.
The unique art style is one of the things I most enjoy about this game. The sketchy kind of style gives it a rather depressing and eerie vibe (the world is ending!)
One cons to me is that the text seems to be cut off, so the flow of dialogue feels clunky.
I got the ending where Malva make up with Erika first, so the other ending hits hard. It’s great that you incorporate events in the real world with that of the imagination, so what’s going on in the game doesn’t feel extraneous.
I really don’t have any other word to describe the game other than just: amazing. The disruption in previously seen routine where Malva just sleeps and sleeps and sleeps made me sit tight. And of course the story branches out to what I love about it.
Love the achievement snip-bit lol. Made me chuckle everytime.
Thank you so much for your amazing comment and feedback! : ) It means a lot! I'm really happy you liked it!
This is such a rich and immersive world! The art was so unique and enchanting and the environment was so creative with so many little details that made it exciting, like giant green monsters just appearing and disappearing or eyes that follow you as you move. I also found the writing of Julieta to be really funny, and I liked how the bizarre elements of the magic realism were just normal, like the dad becoming a slime abomination while watching TV or Julieta transforming. I am curious to find both endings and will be coming back to play more :)
Thank you so much for your amazing feedback and kind words, and of course for playing! I'm really glad you liked it! : D
Thank you so much for your feedback! : D
Actually, I didn't want to give a clear answer regarding what was real and what not, because that's part of the magical realism. I guess the plot and the endings can be interpreted in different ways!
Hi! Great concept! Unfortunately I found 2 game breaking bugs (the second time I downloaded the game) so I never get to de end of the game :(
Spoiler alert!
The first bug is when Malva came down the elevator and the second bug happens when Malva doesn’t wanna come out of her room
I'm really sorry to hear that! I'll look into it to see if I can replicate those bugs and fix them (I won't be able to update the game until the jam ends though). Thanks for letting me know!
I really liked the story, it kept me hooked until the end. Would had loved if the graphics were all pixel art, I think it'd have made the game more solid and could take it to another level with a different art direction, like the one used with the characters. Congratulation on making this game y dale Boca! Gran toque que Malva sea Xeneize! :D
Thank you so much for your feedback! I actually considered making everything in pixel art, but ultimately I decided to experiment with the backgrounds. There are actually no tiles in the game, everything is just backgrounds with invisible blocks.
Thanks again! Aguante Boca jaja!
The game seems amazing but I couldn't end the first day because the "dog upside down" wouldn't load :( I'm gonna try again with the downloaded version (I tried on browser first).
OK I downloaded it and it's working alright! I've been playing for 30mn now and not near the end! What an amazing work for a jam!
This is not my first time playing a game from Axel Vejar Dossow and I have to say that this was a really fantasy-horror-like game experience and I am amazed at the creator of the game combining visual novel elements with rpg game mechanics. I liked that the design of the backgrounds, characters and other artworks in the game are all made by the creator himself as well as an amazing storyline that most players probably wouldn't expect as they slowly reach the ending of the game.
I was really surprised by how different and cool this game was as compared to the previous game I have played from the same creator. The game felt completely original and nailed the part on horror and fantasy as well. The slow progression at the start of the game may appear boring at first but everything that happened then was just meant to divert the player's attention away from what was truly happening and to foreshadow what is coming in the later parts of the game.
