Pure fun and surprise with a concept I could think of but never pull off like this- especially in a game jam!  Cheers to games with multiple parts (again.. in a game jam! WOW)!
Fav parts:
-the animationnnnn!!  Y'all were generous with how many things moved, even wiggly border of the menu screen.
-our protagonist Agent R just looks seriously fed up the whole time.  I love it. fed up and ready to win!
-besides the long cutscene at the beginning being mandatory to wait thru upon death, the side scrolling part was a brilliant addition to the progression of the game.

Maximum enjoyment with this one.  Swelltastic!

We had such a fun time with this one! We're planning on replaying it after the jam's over too! 5 stars all around!

Reminds me of the the fun flash games from AddictingGames or Kongregate.

It was a small thing, but during the locker search, I really liked running over to the dialogue box to catch what the narrator was saying about each item. Like the narrator was truly driving the story and if I didn't keep up with them I'd miss out. It never got stale and it kept the pace + fun discoveries up the whole time! I also liked getting thrown into different situations while being caught in the middle of the narrator argument.

My suggestions would be similar to what everyone else said. To set the respawn for the robots vs dragons fight to the start of the fight. Or an option to skip the dialogue there. And also a little more generosity with the hitboxes.

From a marketing perspective, I think there're some things you could do to get more reviews and exposure. Tweaking the itch page to match the coloring of your game, making gifs with a gif making tool (like ScreenToGif) for the thumbnail and screenshots, and some more info in the description.

Amazing job to all who worked on this!

OMG THANK YOU !
I'm happy that you like how the dialog are displayed even though it was a bit rough x)
For the next jam we will take some time to make a good game page !

What a thoroughly fantastic concept! I absolutely love shake-ups in gameplay, especially when it serves the narrative. Shame there's no fantasy bit in between the spy part and the showdown, I would have liked to see how you'd handle that. Great work with the art and the music as well - every element perfectly complements one another.

Now, I think the text sticking to one place is a detriment to the pacing, as I would like to play rather than stick around waiting for the text to scroll. It also sometimes goes off screen, though this only happened a few times during the later sections. Would also say the game can be a bit overly punishing sometimes, especially in the sidescroller bit. Some more lives or at least a smaller hit box would easily make this experience more enjoyable. At the end of the day though, these are mostly nitpicks.

Keep it up! I love the imagination you showcase here, and I hope all of you work on more projects together.

Thank you so much for your review !
I agree with you for the dialogs. I need to work on a more robust dialog system ^^
We will absolutely make other games together it was so fun !

I missed story because I didn't notice at first that text was appearing on the screen and I just walked away from it.

Very well rounded experience, which is a big plus for me. I enjoyed it.

I think I would enjoy more context. Who is telling the story? Why robots vs magic stuff? etc etc

I didn't finish because I died a few times during the side scrolling bit and the cut scene was too long

Developer

Thank you for your comment.
At first we wanted to have more context but we decide to remove it for more surprise (and because it was a bit easier)
Glad you enjoyed it and sorry for the side scrolling cut scene ^^

I liked the game a lot! I enjoyed the gameplay and it was nice the sketchy artstyle was incoorperated into animations, for example when the agent got spotted. It was a fun game and the concept is interested. I got a bit frustrated sometimes because the hitboxes are very harsh on the player but I kept playing so I guess that means that the fun outweighted that!

Developer

Thank you so much ! :D
At first we wanted to have all the sprites to be drawn when appearing but it was to much work ^^'

hitboxes are often mentionned. I need to work on that !

What a great concept! Had a lot of fun playing even though sometimes I wasn't sure what to do (jump and slide in the running sequence, firing hearts at the end). I also think I must've hit space too many times during the last fight because I didn't really see an ending, it just took me back to the title screen.

Overall, great work! I like the style and the story.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it ! :)
I started to add the controls but i was short on time. I should have prioritized that given the number of "playstyle changes"
At the end you should have : dialog -> credits screen -> the game quit. Don't really know what happened for you ^^'

Oh I loved this so much, was smiling the whole time. Very funny dialogue and interaction between the narrators and the game. Definitely laughed at poor Agent R/Princess rose in his/her little dress. Super cute art style and music/sounds fit really well too. Props all around

Only thing I would say is I would suggest maybe setting the respawn point in the sidescrolling sequence to be after the dialogue, or maybe add a way to skip it? It was a little frustrating to have to sit through it again every time I died

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words ! :D
I totally agree with you for the sidescrolling. it would be the first thing i would fix.

Love the concept! Very fun seeing the narrators fighting over the genre. I appreciated when elements of both fantasy and espionage were introduced at the same time. The hitboxes were a bit frustrating at times and having to restart the narrator conversation after dying in the running mini-game every time ended up being where I stopped since I was not very good at it... D: Also enjoyed the couple of laser puzzles in the middle there. Great job Rodii!

Thank you !
I wanted to have the dialog in the game without pausing but it don't really work for the runner sequence. I realized that to late.
For the htiboxes, i reduced them but apparently not enough. x)
