...all of it! The game's basically the entire movie.

Does your game or video link contain movie spoilers?
Please list any pre-made art/music/other assets that you used.
Some sound effects that were edited/mixed/mashed - all CC0.
How many members in your team?
Anything you want to say to players before they play?
Multiplayer's a bit buggy - I'd avoid it for now, but you're welcome to attempt it!
There are 32x32x32 rooms, and 5 exits, one in the middle of each side, and one at the bottom of the structure. Your goal is to find the exit without dying.
In addition, the serial numbers inside the crawlspaces indicate if a room is trapped or not - Google the movie to see what the code is.
I'll be continuing work on this after the jam and updating after the judging's finished, so please stay tuned!

Hey Hi Hello! When will the next game update and the ability to walk on ceilings be released?
Really nice graphics and challenging game! I included it in my Movie Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to check it out! :)
I've never watched the movie, but that looks like one very nice game! Alas I couldn't play it because I'm using an azerty keyboard, with ZQSD instead of WASD. I had hopes to change that when I saw your "options" screen, but there aren't any key config, which is not surprising for a game jam. I wish you had chosen a keyset that is more usable worldwide, like arrows, or maybe ESDF.
Will do for the next update!
I must say I loved the movie and this game was no disappointment! Very cool! I died a lot, but I had a whole lot of fun doing it and it certainly gave me nostalgia feelings of watching the movie. The graphics and sound were great to capture the atmosphere, Very well done!
Thanks! Looking forward to working on it more!
Made my Top 5:
Thanks for the support - glad you liked it! Update's ready that helps with the difficulty but I'm waiting until after the jam voting to post it.
I'm not familar with the film, I threw my boots away. I like the SFX and the special effects in the different rooms. I think my capture choked on the quality. not sure how I was stuck to the walls either. I feel like maybe I was missing something.
Yeah, it definitely needs to be easier/have some guidance. You're not alone here (but so it is with a game jam entry)! Thanks for the constructive criticism!
way too hard for me to play the game (i can do puzzle but not math!) but it looks and feels very polished and the movie interpretation is cool.
Likewise, you know I've been following the progress of this with much excitement, as I too consider CUBE to be one of my fav movies.
Happy to say that I'm not disappointed. You've managed to achieve a HECK of a lot in the time available. The game is gorgous already and sounds immersive too.
Obviously, it's unfinished and (unless u were born a mathematical genius) I agree, more boots would've been nice.
Overall, very impressed and look forward to seeing where you take this from here.
Good luck! :D
Actually, there are plans for more detection methods that deviate from canon a bit. For example, you'll find items in rooms, have items to mark the room you're in, etc.
In addition the game parameters (cube size, number of boots, etc) will be configurable.
Need more shoes! Love the Cube movies and always wanted a game based on them... so consider me following this project closely.
