Once I got the controls I thought the mechanics were neat. I was intrigued by the bleakness of the scene, definitely some interesting vibe there. Impressed by the amount of sound effects and polish of the UI!
Amazing
Really nice! I like the fun gameplay, I found a little camera glitch in level four, but its really nothing, i bet it you want you could fix it in 5 minuet.
Also the art and the little details, like the Voice Acting, and the animations, everything is great!
il say that maybe he doesnt need to stop moving when we rotate him, it casues the game to feel slow and less smooth, maybe you could replace it with pressing a button, Like when you press space, he would stop to rotate.
Thanks! I fixed the bug and a few others as well. I wanted the gameplay to feel unique and robot vacuum-er, hence the stopping, for better or worse. Actually if you speed up (Z) or just tap arrows, you don't lose that much speed.
cool idea. don't think i ever player a game as a vacuum before
Wow, impressive effort. Lot's of content for so little time. I like how you used Godot's lighting and physics features.
Thanks for compliments. The 2D lighting engine is somewhat a childhood dream come true - I just couldn't help using it. I actually had target of 10 levels but time is merciless.
If you haven't eaten any cookies, then why are there so many crumbs?
Jokes aside, I really liked your use of lighting and sound effects; oh how satisfying it was to hear your character say "so-rry!" when it chewed papers or bumped into the guy! He has quite the nerve to stumble in complete darkness, throw important papers on the floor and scowl at his home appliance!
It's hard to think of something this game could improve on. My biggest struggle was making sure there's no dust left in the rug, since the last frame of dust sprite is barely visible on such a busy background. If I were a completionist it would probably tick me off. But it didn't. Good game!
Thanks for feedback! I agree sometimes its hard to see whether any dust remains. I initially wanted to add some kind of scan function to any highlight leftover dirt, but that goes to the long list of todos.
Good point about cookies, you caught me!
I'm sorry for bad performance on fourth level. I pulled an all-nighter to add actual levels to the game, submitted at 6 AM local time. So no optimizations whatsoever. It should work better with the executable.
This was my first time using Godot (and first in ten years for any game development aside from small experiments), so there was alot I had to learn from scratch. Fortunately Godot is very easy engine/editor to build with, I can recommend.
I didn't notice any performance issues, but if you are interested in what's causing them, you should check the built-in profiler in the debugging section in Godot.
Thanks, I'll check it out. I'm quite sure its excessive use of light & shadows, as that level has multiple times more lighting than others.
