great game it was really fun to play! I got it in 62 seconds :D, it would be nice to have the option of using arrow keys and AWSD, and I also found a small bug, if you hold down D and restart the timer won't start until you press another button, but this will only save you like 3 seconds anyway until you have to jump.

Developer

oh damn, a time save ;) and yeah not included arrow keys was an oversight on my part. As someone who hates using arrow keys I tend to forget about them 😂

Took me 74 seconds to reach the water xD I really like the simplicity of your game, but not lacking in challenge! I think the fish could use some flash or have different pattern when doused in water.

I’m working on something to add that I’ll hopefully push today or tomorrow :)

Congratulations on your first jam ! The concept was really interesting and enjoyable, maybe an additional background music could add a nice touch to the atmosphere but the entry is really solid overall ! Cool game !

Very interesting concept and fun to play. I think if the fish slithers and flops around like a mudskipper it will look better. Also add an option to use the arrow keys for control instead or in addition to WASD to make it playable to more people, I'm left handed and mostly use the arrow keys to play so I still haven't gone past 4 buckets yet.

Developer

I originally did plan for it to play out like that :p wanted to get the general gameplay down before i messed with the less crucial details, and just never got around to it. Same with arrow keys! I'll update and add them later today if i get the chance. totally meant to in the begginning.

My best time was 30ish seconds, but I'd love to see a victory screen so I can know my exact time! Great speedrun game :)

Developer

That's a pretty darn good time :) I'm still working on learning menu's and other screens, so pausing when you reach the end was the best i could do ^.^' Glad you enjoyed it :) My personal best is 24 seconds, so feel free to keep running ;)

This game is so fun! I really like the waters I collect and the sadness when I run out of sprint haha! Great work! 🐟

My inner speedrunner wants to keep trying for a better record lol incredibly fun

Developer

do it! Beat my time ;)

Submitted

Haha! Very nice. This is the only game I've played so far that has put my reflexes to the test. Was very engaging and fun. only wish it lasted longer. Good stuff

Developer

thank you :) I would have loved to make it longer, but I spent a bit too much time trying to make it feel decent (and the art, I am DEFINITELY no artist so that took a while). Glad you enjoyed it :)

I like the idea and the gameplay dynamic! It would be cool to be able to see if the fish have the water buff or not (like a different color or idk)

And it also have a good speedruning potential, well done!

I thought about changing the colour when you have water, but wanted to keep the black and white haha.

Was very fun ! Only issues I had was that there's no definitive win or lose state. Once you get to the water the game just ends, would have been nice to been a victory screen, same with "losing," the fish as far as I can tell never fully dries up, so it's not entirely definitive that you've lost when you have, otherwise great job!

Developer

you’re absolutely right. I originally intended for the fish to actually dry up, however I couldn’t get the timers working for whatever reason. I would love to add a menu or win screen but godot control nodes scare me hahah

I kept saying "just one more try". The stress of time in combination with platforming was a nice challenge. Could see speedruns being done. Good job

Developer

Glad I could stress you out ;) if you’re interested in the “developer time” I uploaded a video to the discord, in my submission thread :)

I'm awful at this type of game, but I enjoyed it nonetheless!

I got to the lake in 62.12 seconds, which was caused by my own mistakes and exploring different paths.

Developer(+1)

Glad you explored separate paths :) I'll be uploading a "Developer Speedrun" later if you feel like improving your time haha

Submitted(+1)

Haha, I'll definitely check that out and see if I can get a better time. My previous time was awful!

Developer(+1)

Helps being the guy that made the game ;)

Developer(+1)

the developer run has been posted to my submissions thread in the discord of you feel like checking that out ;)

Submitted

Sweet, will check it out!

Your game is very punishing. I like the graphics.

Developer

haha thank you, originally the buckets didn’t respawn so it was a little harder ;)
