(I am now in a rush to test as many games as possible to help, so please do not mind the cursory reviewing style.)

Music! :D

Very small detail/bug: in the bottles screen, if you move a mayfly around, he is displayed BEHIND the jar’s tag, as if he were inside the bottle.

End of turn one: weird, tells me I fired detectives! :o Is this because I swopped around a bit in the hiring phase??

The fact that you do not know the tasks before hiring makes it partly like gambling! Quite hard to figure out how the whole system works at the beginning! :o

What is the difference between "Success" and "Risk" (apart from oppositeness!), actually?? Oh, "Death risk", I get it: losing an agent.

The system is interesting, but you have a MOUTHFUL to think about… :o Anticipating requires being a computing machine, this is probability hell! XD

In the task-selection phase, the mayflies are sometimes a bit too close, and will always come back in such a formation! X) I think allowing them to spread a bit would help, especially to distinguish them.

Guessed right: having an unpopular detective die earns you reputation! XD

Getting better at it… 104 in reputation at turn 6. Low at turn 7. 137 at turn 8! Managing the whole NEGATIVE aspect is tricky.

"McFly" XD

Made it at turn 12, with 242! :D

Now trying to get a game over, and then wrapping up. :)

Managed to fail on the first turn (selecting the six negative-reputation mayflied and not attempting both cases); haha, the boss still told me I was doing "not bad"! XD

Takeaway: super nicely crafted noir (yet humourous) tone, original witty constraint-related idea, interesting management mechanics. I just think some of the management should be introduced more progressively, as it can get overwhelming at the beginning. The whole negative thing was quite a twist! X)

Had a nice time, well done! :)

PS: it occurred to me that the title is reminiscent of another one, Rabbi PI, from The Critic. XD
Hava nagila, baby!’

Woah this is a great review! It's like I'm watching you play.

Very small detail/bug: in the bottles screen, if you move a mayfly around, he is displayed BEHIND the jar’s tag, as if he were inside the bottle.

This is on purpose. Given more time, we'd have put a jar open/close animation so that this made more sense

weird, tells me I fired detectives! :o Is this because I swopped around a bit in the hiring phase??

Yep, but hiring and firing the same detective on the same turn always nets in a 0 reputation loss/gain

The fact that you do not know the tasks before hiring makes it partly like gambling! Quite hard to figure out how the whole system works at the beginning! :o

This is a weird one, because if you were able to see the tasks from the start, then the game would be too easy since you'd be able to always win (or at least reduce losses significantly). This system forces you to think ahead and account for all possibilities. Very rng, but it's possible to take a lot of rng out with planning.

In the task-selection phase, the mayflies are sometimes a bit too close, and will always come back in such a formation! X) I think allowing them to spread a bit would help, especially to distinguish them.

Definitely need to fix this one.

Agreed. The complexity was one of the main things we were worried about. However, it would have taken a significant amount of time for mechanics introductions though. We tried to make it so that even if you picked randomly for everything, you wouldn't lose too much (unless you're really unlucky).

Thank you for playing our game and giving such an in depth review!

I really love the atmosphere !

Took me some time to understand exactly the mechanics, but it's very satisfying to play once you get it, very well thought ! :)

What i like the most is, obviously, the art: such detail in each and every mayfly!

I had a bit of trouble deciding who to hire, because i do not yet know the cases i am working with. I guess is the point of the game, maybe, but i think i would hire different if at i knew the starting reputation, risks, and success rate for each job.

Can't believe this was made within 72 hours. Interesting concept, art, music and just a great game. Really enjoyed.

It took a little while for me to understand strategies to get good at this, but the design was stunning! Really fit the theme so well, and your use of the limitation as part of your games concept was hilarious. Would genuinely love to see this turn into a longer and deeper game!

Wow this was a wonderful game from start to finish. The systems were really engaging to think about. The way all the attributes fit together alongside the progression of completing cases.... This feels very Noir, the atmosphere set by the art and the music is wonderful....

This was a lovely little game! I found it very fun to figure out the best ways to use the stats and how to hire effectively as the game went on. The sound design was pretty well done too - the music was pleasant and the little chimes when you do well were very rewarding lol. The artstyle is also incredible!! The title screen is amazing and I love how much character everyone has, especially the mayflies. If you ever want to update the game to give it a bit more content I would love for there to be different stages and challenges!

Thank you!! In particular what you said about the art I’m glad you thought everyone had character, it was something I really aimed for

The art here is  amazing.  The  gameplay was a bit confusing  at first, but I really dig how in depth it is.  It just takes a few tries  of  messing around before you really know what you are doing
