I love the fun, wacky setting, and how you incorporate sunflower into the theme.

At first glance, I liked your mechanics that uses cards instead of dice. However, when I read through it properly, I found it a bit too fiddly and confusing. I know it is difficult cramming detailed mechanics into 200 words, but perhaps you should aim for something simpler?

I was also confused because it took me a while to figure out the bugs are enemies. I thought they are like pollinators or something, and was shocked to read the flowers fight them to the death!

Again with the 50% fail for heroes! There must be a better way to resolve conflicts. I just spent 15 minutes looking over Emberwind instead of concentrating on that. Such beautiful art.

Look, your domain has a Power, how is it not advantageous to you? Best of three coin flips and everyone judges your use of Power and how it helps you get an extra win? Is the Power only good against Royalty? Additionally, if I'm again facing a bug I had to chase off because it had more seeds than me, I'd better be sure to get more seeds p.d.q. The difficulty factor for this game is pretty steep.

Except for no help with Powers, the mechanics (beyond that frustrating 50% thing) are nice, easy, and straight-forward. I do like it. The theme is setting very fun.

Yeah i realized after the fact that i left that a little too vague. The powers that you have are what allow you to either steal all the bug's seeds or chase it away. If the bug you draw isn't in your domain, you have to fight it on coin flips alone without the extra help.

My original wording made it a bit more explicit, but i had to cut it as i was 80 words over limit in my first draft.

I'll have to expand upon the theme more after the Jam is over and clarify the rules.  To be honest, I'm just thrilled that my first game is at least somewhat decent!

As for Emberwind, i'm glad you like it! I work on the lore a very tiny bit but mostly the social media and project management side of things.

Thank you! I work for a game company but have never developed a game of my own before. This was my first attempt. I'm glad you liked it!

What company if you don't mind me asking?

Developer

Nomnivore Games. We make a tabletop RPG called Emberwind. I'm not a developer though.  I handle social media and PR mostly.
