This year's theme is...
~ The sun is dead ~
Scenario
As your character delves deeper into the depths of the internet, you encounter a tabletop RPG jam!
If you dare to proceed
- Prepare to craft a comprehensive tabletop Role-Playing Game in 48 hours with no more than 200 words.
- Check back here when the Jam starts to find out the theme. The Final Round of Theme Voting has ended.
- Follow the rules below.
- Have fun!
Determining initiative
- The Jam starts on Friday, October 5th at 10:00 PM (UTC) and lasts until Sunday, October 7th at 10:00 PM (UTC).
- The theme for the Jam will be posted ~5 minutes before the start time.
- Voting begins immediately after the Jam deadline and lasts until Sunday, October 28th at 10:00 PM (UTC).
Rules for this encounter
- Your Micro-RPG must attempt to include:
- A set of game rules that help to facilitate role-play.
- A setting or location that your game takes place in.
- A story or starting scenario for your game.
- Your submission must be no longer than 200 words and must be uploaded as a .txt file.
- The title of your entry does not count against this 200 word limit.
- All design and writing must be done during the 48-hour period the Jam takes place in.
- Your game must be playable in a tabletop setting. Live Action Role Playing (LARP) games are not allowed.
- Entries may be developed as an individual or a group. However, only participating itch.io accounts may vote on other games.
- Only 1 entry may be submitted per person/group.
- Word count will be determined using stolksdorf's word-counter.
Player's guide
- It is highly encouraged (but not required) that you incorporate the theme for the Jam into your entry.
- Your Micro-RPG should allow for genuine role-play while providing game mechanics that players can actually engage with. It should not be a board game with a loose plot or a storytelling game that accidentally has some dice in it.
- While you are free to customize the page for your game as you like, the game rules themselves should not be posted or displayed anywhere outside of the .txt file. This is so that formatting does not play a role in judging your entry.
Claiming victory
- You can rate entries based on their use of:
- Mechanics
- Setting (or Location)
- Story (or Starting Scenario)
- Theme
- At the end of the voting period, an Overall rating will be given to each entry based on the average of these scores.
- Only individuals or groups who enter their Micro-RPG into the Jam may vote on other entries.
- If you do make a submission, please take the time to play, rate, and leave feedback on other games.
