I love the look of the game and the intro was incredibly good.
Of course I decided to walk of the path into the void and that is still possible.
Collecting cats and solving the dreams was fun for a while, but when it came down to the last few it turned into running around looking for that missing puzzle piece. Especially looking for the last house took a few minutes. Perhaps you could make a minimap or have the leftover houses be more obvious.
Great demo, keep it up.
Really nice art, I like how you control the camera. The gameplay is a bit too cryptic for me though...
Okay I come back for the update version and have a second play. The world scene is pretty. Music is offering the feeling too. But for the gameplay, i get same problem with other players. I feels I should match the cat's color to the icon's color. Sometimes it works. Sometimes I just brute force. I haven't finished the game, because I feel getting lost.
This game has a really charming atmosphere! The 2D/3D combo works well, and I really like the aesthetic. The music and SFX work well to support the vibe too. I appreciated that you included a transformation sequence, nice!
The story seems interesting, but is fairly light currently. The gameplay falls into as similar state. Collecting the cats was fine, but I found myself often trial-and-erroring my way through the puzzles. There were a few I got by looking at the pictures, but many I wasn't really sure about. Brute forcing ultimately worked.
I do have to say though, even if the gameplay and story were light, the atmosphere you've created kept me going! Pretty sure i found everything (you mentioned a cat is currently missing, so you can't win right now)
One small bug I found was that I started playing with the arrow keys instead of WASD... it works, but the character doesn't animate if you play that way. Of course, using the WASD as the instructions tell you to, the animations are fine. (Not sure why I went straight to the arrow keys, habit I guess!)
Also, I did have to restart once because I actually went the wrong direction the first time (away from the path) and got very, very lost! I suppose I should have followed the path, but maybe some sort of boundary to the play area would help for silly players like me who wander.
Great work!
Thank you very much for your valueable feedback!! I just updated the game with a fence barrier in the beginning which should lead the player now into the village hopefully ☺️ the rest for the feedback we will consider in changing after the rating period for a fair rating phase ☺️
The graphics of this game are really nice. I was skeptical of the mix of pixel art and lowpoly 3D at first, but it looks great ingame and I was quickly sold on the idea. It invokes some neo-retro, indie game vibes. The sound is sparse, but the effects work well.
Gonna be honest, though, I had absolutely no idea what was going on or what I was supposed to be doing. I wandered the level a bit, headed pretty far out wondering if that was meant to be part of the play area, and then eventually passed the level by pure trial and error once I realized that the cats could be clicked on.
In fairness, the game page does explain the backstory and the mechanics. And I think the gameplay concept as described is interesting, but I really feel it needs to be better explained in the game itself. I had no idea what the graphics in the dialogue boxes in the cutscene were supposed to be. I'd assumed it was some kind of visual storytelling and was trying to figure out what it meant, and I didn't realize it was a key part of the gameplay itself.
The game appears to be slightly cut off if not played in fullscreen. Probably an issue with itch.io settings?
Hello and thank you a lot for your feedback! The video has been slightly altered with minor changes to understand the story and intro a bit better ☺️
the opening animation is charming. It's a precious for a game jam. The graphic is lovely. I like the rotatable pixel art 3d scene. some how feels refreshing for me.
but eh... it seems there is not much I can do, apart from collecting cats and walking around. The scenes seen in screenshot seems not exist in the game yet. I will rate later.
Hello and thank you a lot for the feedback! The game has been updated with a level to actually play ☺️ keep in mind that all the assets and gameplay were created during the game jam period, it was just a level design missing at the point of submission, feel free to give it another try, we would appreciate it a lot!
ok the pixel magical girl transformation was cool.... the picto cat story went too fast I'm not sure I understood at all ... having to click the cats in the bottom in the box/altar thing is confusing...
I guess I can try to rate this later ? Seems interesting concept wise, but not much there currently.

OK so round 2 ....
Game gives me the Nightmare Before Christmas vibes ...
Anyway ... um I walked around picked up an army of cats ... I brute forced some cat matching puzzles and then got bored / lost.
I guess its just not enough of a game yet. I thought from my first round that you would actually go into the dream and do something, but in this version you just fix it .
Overall suggestions:
keep the play area smaller, provide a mini map. Have each puzzle be meaningful. Allow only a few cats at a time?
