Did you work in a team?
2, one musician and one dev/"artist". We loved the limitation.

Was the resolution a challenge?
The death detection was a bit hard to implement, Because I was checking the speed of the spaceship when it was already collided with the object. So I had the idea of creating an invisible atmosphere that detects the speed of ship while it was overlapping the atmosphere. I allowed me to know the speed of the ship before the collision and not after.

What did you learn?
Dividing the map in sectors I guess. And simulating gravity on a planetary scale.

I love the atmosphere of this game. There's certainly quite a bit of depth to this world, but I wasn't able to discover it because it's hard to tell where I am in relation to the major objectives I must accomplish.

I also crashed into an asteroid because I was going really fast, and it was in the tile region right in front of me. Some kind of navigation overlay system would help to prevent things like that.

I kind of laughed when I ran out out fuel and had to press "R" to die. Why do we need fuel? I just want to explore this world.

Developer(+1)

Well there is one arrow pointing to the nearest asteroid and another one pointing to the nearest planet, I really should've made a tutorial haha. Fuel is a limitation to stop yourself from going too fast and adds a bit of challenge because you have to dodge asteroid while not consuming too much fuel. Thank you for playing ^^

Fun little space game.  Reminds me a lot of the old lunar lander game but with some planet exploration.  Really cool idea!  I also how you took a step above the restriction by also have a monochromatic color pallet.  I feel like it fit the game just right.  Nice job!

Nice little game but it isn't 64x64 pixels.

Developer

What do you mean ? everything is 64X64?

Your game is based on a 64x64 'block size' but not a 64x64 resolution. For example, on the menu screen the word 'start' is rotating and the edges of the surrounding box are smooth because the resolution is much higher than 64x64. Hope that makes sense. It's not a criticism of your game (which I like) it just doesn't meet the rules, viz: "The goal of the jam is to create a game with a resolution of 64x64 pixels or less"

Developer(+1)

Oh I see, well it's more of subpixels because the real game resolution is 64X64, but yeah it's fair I kinda cheated on that one haha

Nice.  I wish dying wouldn't reset your progress, but cool game.  You achieved a lot in just b/w, 64x64.

Nice atmosphere, really like the music and just letting the space ship fly around. However, after 10 deaths or so, I still didn't understand what I was suppose to do and why, so I finally gave up. Some clarifications in the beginning would be nice! Good job otherwise :)

Great gameplay, atmosphere and visuals. It took a while for me to understand the game (in fact, I only really got it after watching the gameplay showcase in your YouTube channel, awesome resource!). I think the game could benefit from a more in-depth tutorial. I understand the discovery / exploration aspect is a design choice and I appreciate it, but I can definitely see people giving up before realizing what the game is about (and missing out, as this is an awesome experience). Also, the font was a bit confusing to me, I thought the "8" was a "0" at first. Given how essential the coordinates are to the gameplay loop, I'd consider switching to something more readable. Awesome entry, congratulations!

Awesome concept! loved the implementation and the art is great! Was a little confused at the start but managed to grasp what was the objective after a minute

Thank you for playing it. ^^ I'll try to make it more obvious after the jam ^^.
