Love how intense this feels. I included it in my LowRezJam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Did you work in a team?
Flying solo. Sprites, backgrounds, font, music and sound effects were all made from scratch for the jam.
Was the resolution a challenge?
The 1:1 aspect ratio was definitely an adjustment. Those black bars at the sides were hard to accept. Not being able to scale up to full HD also made the camera real jittery when the mouse sat too close to the border between pixels, and moving or rotating objects at less than 1 pixel just looks gross.
What did you learn?
This kind of jam is definitely my jam! It was just long enough to to make something I'm proud of, but not too long that I got sidetracked by a new idea. I also find working within a set of limitations is the best way to fuel creativity. It definitely reminded me to not take for granted how forgiving a higher resolution can be. Rounding the camera position instead of tracking the mouse precisely helped the jittery screen, and setting alarms that turned movement speed on and off helped eliminate the sprite warping. I'm just going to have to accept the problem with sprite rotation though because I was too lazy to draw the gun sprite at every angle, but I definitely will be a lot less picky about that sort of thing in the future!
