Cool game! Well put together all around. Love the text. The characters designs are nice with good animations. The parallax effect was great also. I got to 1,000!
A bit of feedback, the song was not a perfect fit to me. It looks like an Olympic event but the music sounds like a 90s skateboarding game. There's also a droning, lawn mower like sound in background of the song. I think it's supposed to be a distorted guitar but at first I thought it was an audio glitch.
Cute art, nice music!
This was lot of fun, and an interesting interpretation of the theme. Great game overall!
Fun little game with some nice pixel art.
A fun little game. Seems addicting enough and I see myself spending more time and pushing for higher scores. Maybe I just need to play more and get used to the game but hitboxes are not clear enough and sometimes the game counts seemingly flawless jump as a fail.
Ah I think I understand what you mean! I honestly should have put some time into making a tutorial section, so basically you jump over the normal hurdles, but then the players you hit space when you are ON them ( kind of like a rhythm game so as to pass the baton), if you jump over the other players you are not connecting and it counts as a fail state! I am sorry for the confusion! I will work on adding a tutorial section in the start! Thanks for giving it a try!
Pretty simple and fun game.
The art is very nice, the music charges the mood.
But I do not feel at all the subject of connections (I read the comments and understood the position of the authors, nevertheless).
Also, I didn’t read the descriptions at the beginning and thought that other participants should be jumped over or even crushed, like Mario does it with turtles and gumbos. =D
For a long time I could not understand why the collision works so poorly at this moment. stupid me.
I don't know why but the frame rate on the downloaded version was so low, It wasn't really playable, I am not sure if it is a me issue or with the game. I'm not rating the game since I don't have a fair experience with it. Just wanted to post, perhaps others are also having that issue. Cheers
Oh Alright, thanks for letting me know! I asked a few people to try it and it seemed to work for them so I am not sure! It honestly might be the build problem I think! Thanks for giving it a shot either way! Much appreciated!
I checked with a secondary issue but yes, I faced the same issue! I will try to fix it post-voting period! Thank you for your time!
Aight cheers mate!! Good luck :)
Hey everyone! I took down the web version as it was giving a terrible experience! I would really appreciate it if you would take some time to give the downloadable version a try!
I will be updating the browser version once the jam voting period is over :3 Thanks alot!
I really liked the audio and the animations, however there are a lot of aspects this game could do with some minor adjustments. for example i think the game could definitely have better jumping as its really hard to time and doesn't last very long. Furthermore I don't see a good link to the theme which is something that could me improved on. lastly there is no real explanation to what is going on . to conclude I think its a really good start but good use some tweaking and I am very exited to see where it goes.
The theme I was going for is very simple actually: Based on connecting you are passing the baton over to the other people - Relay after all is a game about connection!
I wanted to ask if you played the browser version or the downloaded one! The browser one doesn't work as intended right now! I am pretty sure the experience will be much better in the downloadable veersion! Please let me know if you get the time to try it! I will be making a more stable browser version later once the jam voting period is over!
Thanks for your feedback! Much appreciated!
Ohh ok i now see what you were going for as it is true relay is about teamwork and connection, however your characters don't actually connect when passing the baton more of a jump over so i kind of struggled to see it, I'm guessing this was a choice based on production time.
Hi I have taken down the web version cause I believe the issues you felt were because of that! Please give the downloaded game a chance! Thank you for your feedback!
i believe it was the browser one i played i will check out the downloaded one in a bit :)
The art really 'pops' in this game, really nice work!
Thanks alot for giving it a try! Much appreciated!
Super cool music and art, and the hurdles have a cool effect when moving. Nice!
Thanks alot for giving it a shot!
Loved the music ! Very dynamic, and gets you pumped up for the task :D
Also, such a great art, it really feels like in a stadium !!
Congrats !
Thank you so much for giving it a shot! I am glad you liked it!
Amazing art, I really liked how you interpreted the theme.
Good job!
Thank you so much Sam for giving it a go!
Love the art and music of the game. One improvement i could recommend is to make either the jump hold a little longer in the air (As stated by the other comment) or make the collision of the people shorter as they felt a bit difficult to jump over sometimes. I had fun playing the game overall and great job.
Thanks alot Ryan! I appreciate you checking out the game!
I wanted to ask the same thing I asked the previous comment, did you try holding on to the space bar or just tapping it? The more you hold onto it, it gives you a bigger air time! But please do let me know if you still found it difficult post that! I will make the necessary update to the jump in the post jam period!
Thanks alot for checking it out and leaving a comment!
That makes sense, I did try it out afterwards and it does feel a bit better, i do feel maybe a tab bit more airtime or something would be great because falling down is quite fast and i went over some characters and still died from them. I hope this feedback helps you out if only just a little bit! Thanks for reaching back out!
Thanks again Ryan for your confirmation! I will be updating the jump post the game jam rating window! Thank you :3
The art in this was so cute and combined with the music was hilarious.
Absolutely loved it all together.
I will say it is hard to give criticism to an infinite runner, however, when I first tried I hadn't read the description that you had to jump over your teammates so I thought instinctively to run into them. Perhaps jumping over them is slightly strange or I'm just a clown who doesn't play enough endless runners.
My only real criticism is I think the jump could be made to hold more air time as at times I felt like I should have hit the hurdle but know I didn't because of the limitations of the jump.
All in all a beautifully simple game.
Great job!
Hi! Thanks alot for checking out my game!
I wanted to add a tutorial section in the beginning but sadly fell short of time! I will get to this when I update the game post jam!
I wanted to ask whether you tried holding the space bar? When you keep it held the air time is a little higher compared to when you tap it! Or do you feel its still short even after the held out jump? Thanks for letting me know, I didn't have much time to playtest it, and I will look into improving it in the future update!
Thank you so much!
I did in fact attempt to hold it but still felt it was somewhat short or not a big enough of change to really feel like it did something. Perhaps either making it longer or some visual feedback that it's doing something might help!
Glad I could help :)
Thank you! I will get to updating the jump and making it feel better post the jam rating period! Thanks alot for letting me know!
