Who doesn't like some smooth jazz on a cartoony undead action game? It's an unusual combination that gives a specific signature to the game.
The restart animation is very nice. The parallax detail is a nice addition to the backgrounds.
It has a frustration element to it when I died after reaching far away and had to go all the way back. Have you considered fixing the backtracking? So the player doesn't have to make it all the way to the previous point again. Particullary when dying is inevitable after encountering several red guys.
Thanks for feedback and for playing! I was tempted to have a heavy metal music for the game, once I put together this jazzy tune for it, I thought it'd be more fun and lighten the game a little lol. I could put a few respawn checkpoints and expand the level and lengthen it out, it is a little annoying losing your progress and being thrown to square one lol. Good suggestion for future update cheers, something needs to be done about these red guys, maybe a timed block command or giving them 2 HP instead of 3 to give the player more of a chance.
The death animation was really smooth and i liked how it made a really nice loop between dying and restarting the level without having to click anything! Also the firebreath animation was really impressive! Overall really fun! I can't believe i died the most from the red guys rather than the monsters :')
Thanks for playing, glad you liked it. If you hold Space bar down he will continuously punch, and if you start punching just before the red guys reach you, you can get away with losing just 1 soul energy per encounter, which might make fighting them easier. I will update graphics in future update, a few of them were just placeholders until I got the game working but never got round to updating them in time lol
Ooh thanks for the tip! And that's understandable i feel that :') I liked the style regardless
I like the art style, it gives off a specific retro vibe that I'm particular to. :) I feel like the wrong way sign at the left was calling me out specifically. xD
The parallax is a bit odd, the background parallax moves faster than the midground, which is usually the opposte, and then there's elements behind that which move at the same rate as the midground.
It was a little confusing that I could walk through the spikes given the perspective of the environment around it, and I was met by a dragon looking thing right at the end of a spike trap. Had I stopped moving or went backwards the spike would've killed me, but had I kept moving the dragon would've killed me, so I died at no fault of my own. Unfair deaths are frustrating for your players.
Thanks for feedback! I thought it didn't look right, thanks for noticing it. I'll look into the parallax and tweak it a bit more, there is a few things I'm going to update with it, getting trapped at the end of the spikes is a bit frustrating, although it kinda lives up to it's title haha :)
Was also thinking of having the speed of the player's ghost moving faster, depending on how far across the level you got so if your near the end of the level you get back to the start quicker, but because of the way I've set it up would mean I would have to have each background have it's own dynamic variable, but something I'll enjoy messing about with lol
This is really hard! The red guy kill me every time :( Nice little game anyway ^^
Thanks for playing. Yes it is a bit lol, maybe I need to make it slightly easier
Death animation is nice.need improvement in graphic.
Thanks for feedback, yes my graphics aren't that good but I'll keep practising :)
