The atmosphere is great, i was pretty scared by this one, great story to keep players engaged and the puzzles were very nice too didn't look up walkthrough cuz im a gamer B) It isn't like most overused jumpscare games which is what i really like about this one, job well done!

This is a great game! The whole creepy atmosphere and the story are pretty engaging. I managed to finish one story by getting hints from buttoncupcake haha.

Developer

Glad I could be of help! XD

Thank you for trying out Matry's Room!

I like the atmosphere. Quite eerie with the setting and music, and story. And suits the theme quite well, like an escape room. I solved a few puzzles, but got stuck after a while. I might have to try again later. Nicely done.

Feel free to check out the devlogs for the walkthrough for most of the game. You can also always DM me!

After 1h40 I got the 2 first endings. And you, you got the full 5 stars. This is the best game of the jam.

Solving the puzzles was as fun as it was hard (especialy the red room), I loved the last balloon one, with the skull pattern. The story was perfect too. I guess there's alternate answers to the puzzles that give you different endings , right ? Because I don't see anywhere a point where you can "change the branch" of the story. Except (SPOILER) the moment when you have to take the bird's blood. The fact that you have a choice (even 2) intrigues me because I don't see how to continue without it.

Something that I would have loved to see is when (SPOILER) you have to write the shapes's names, you could write the 3 people's names that were associated with them. (s*, v* & u*) I thought about it and was disappointed that it didn't do anything.

btw the window positionning / zoom is messed up in the web version when you fullscreen via the preference menu, exit fullscreen, via Itch's exit fullscreen "x" button and then re-fullscreen via the preference menu.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying this game <3

And congratulations! To my knowledge, you might be the closest to unlocking the 'secret' endings.

[SPOILERS] The three people's names were more there for the plot and creepiness factor because of the words they make together, but I guess they can also serve as red herring.

For the web version issue, it's more a framework thing. I'm using Ren'Py. I think it's interfering with itch.io's own fullscreen functionality. I don't think I can modify it. I'll include a note telling people about this. Thanks for letting me know!

Good luck for the jam!

Really really fun, super immersive experience with a creepy vibe. Some of the puzzles were super tough but it was awesome!

Hey, you asked me to through your game, so here I am.

The puzzles are really cool. I liked the octopus puzzle, for instance. I had to stop at the eyeball puzzle, though, since I couldn't figure that one out for the life of me.

I think for stuff like that it would be really awesome to have people playtest more to tell you which puzzles are perhaps too hard. You mentioned that nobody has gotten all 5 endings yet. That's pretty cool, however that also tells me that some of the puzzles are difficult enough so that nobody has solved them in the time they have, which isn't quite ideal for most puzzle games.

The puzzles I was able to solve were pretty fun, though. I liked that part of the game.

One other thing- the music was pretty basic, but it worked with the lonely dark environment you seemed to be going for. That was pretty cool.

Overall, nice job! I think that the game was good overall except for one or two puzzles which were pretty tough.

Developer

Hey there!

I'm glad that  you enjoyed most of the puzzles!

For the eyeball puzzle, you have to find letters in the pattern on the eye, and they are somehow connected to the suits. To get the 'secret' endings, you might have to solve a puzzle differently. There's a hint for that in the game.

If you ever decide to continue playing and need some hints, feel free to DM me on Discord or check out my Twitter (in my profile).

As for music, I was trying to make one that would not distract the players while they solve puzzles. Glad you think it fits the atmosphere!

Thank you so much for trying out Matry's Room. Good luck for the jam!

Awesome! I love this puzzles. They made very great. But this was too hard and long to me. Also the theme of the jam was fully covered. Great job, dude.

Developer

Hello! Thank you so much for trying out this game.

Yeah, the puzzles can be tricky. I'll be adding a walkthrough to the main ending soon.

Out of curiosity, where did you get stuck? Maybe I can give you some hints?

Really interesting! I love the creativity of this person and the way you approached the theme. Honestly, story wise I loved it and the puzzles are super cool! The only thing left is making better graphics but otherwise you've got yourself a good game. Good job!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I wanted to include more graphics but was short on time. Maybe I'll find some time after to work on them!

Thank you so much for playing this game! Good luck with the jam!

I add a lot of difficulties to finish it, thanksfully you gave me the walkthrough.
I can see the work here, and the game is quite perturbing, but I find it to strange for me ^^
The word surreal describes it well.

Developer

Haha, it is surreal. You can interpret this as the player navigating a dream world.

Thank you so much for trying out the game! Good luck for the jam!

Is there jumpscares ? I don't wanna play horror games but yours looks very cool...

Developer(+1)

Hello! Thank you for your interest.

No, there is no jumpscare. It's not really a horror game, but it has some blood and loud sounds (no screaming, just some buzzing).
