Smart take on the wave-based genre, but in the end it was very easy to defend the loot once you only had to take care of one piece. This getting expanded to something more fleshed out would be great!

Developer

Thanks! It does get sort of hilariously easy at the end since the enemies are unaware they can attack and overwhelm you. We plan on fleshing the game out more when we have some free time so keep an eye on the devlog if you'd like to play when more stuff gets added. :)

I love the art, such beautiful colors! The only thing that bothered me was that when jumping it felt like the character was falling super fast.

Developer

Thanks for the kind words and input! :) I agree the jump could use some tweaking (and some variable jump height wouldn’t hurt, either).

Wow, this art style is very visually appealing, and the animations are very well done. I like what you have here so far, the game feels nice and smooth but I think the control scheme could use a little tweaking. I also think some basic sound effects and music would really add a lot to this game. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks! :D Do you have any suggestions for the control scheme?

I agree that audio would add a lot to the game. We're working on more updates for the game and plan to add SFX, music, and control remapping. It's been fun working on it so far and we think there's a lot of potential for improvement.

The only thing that I found awkward was using space for attacking, I think I can speak for most people here when I say that I am accustomed  to space being used almost exclusively for jumping. As for which button to map the attack key to, there are many possible options such as L/Rshift or some keys on the right side of the keyboard(J,K or L maybe), or possibly even left/right arrows since the attack is only horizontal(consider adding a vertical attack as well?). I think game pad controls could also work really well with the game. :)

Developer

Thanks for all the suggestions! :) I think JKL (or similar keys) would be good keys to use since the attack and pickup buttons could be close together without accidentally triggering Sticky Keys with shift. Space for jump could potentially free up the up arrow key to allow the player to pan the camera up to check the upper area of the stage without having to physically go there. Vertical and/or air attacks are things we’d like to add to help deal with pesky flying enemies!

Yeah sticky keys are always annoying, I played it again and I must say that while only using the arrow keys for movement, the space bar attack makes perfect sense and feels right. I was just a bit confused since I have a preference for awsd movement. I'm looking forward to seeing where this project goes in the future, and best of luck to you guys with the jam results!

Developer

Awesome, thanks! We’ll see what we can do with it - the input is useful. Good luck to you as well!
