Game Description
Merlin is away and has left his trusty forge (you) in charge of making weapons for the kingdom! Merlin's conjured materials spell is great ... when it works - but it has an annoying habit of conjuring items from the pantry instead of the smithy. Complete the requests to gain experience and create even more powerful weapons! Remember: Onions do not make good swords

How does your game tie into the theme?

Interesting concept! Once you get past understanding that you can only hold three items, the concept plays out very well. Cool submission and thanks for it.

This is an awesome idea, I love the thought of crafting through this style. Original, fun, simple. Good job!

Thanks for the submission! It wasn't too hard for me to figure out what I was doing and pretty fun once I got going. It was fun to have to dodge the valid ingredients as I waited for the right one, but felt I often had to wait a long time. Maybe adding a little cheating into the game (make it a bit more likely an ingredient will pop up that completes an item) to make the player feel better?

I also liked that you slowly added in the new items instead of just plopping them all in from the beginning. It made starting out a lot easier to get the hang of.

Thanks for playing! Yeah the instructions were not very clear, I kind of rushed them right at the end. The 'cheat' to the randomness is a good idea :)

Great game! Despite the instructions, it did take me a second to figure out exactly what I was doing. My intuition told me to collect everything and I didn't realize that I could only hold the three items. Turns out that onions really don't make good swords. Game went much smoother after I figured that out. Was overall a neat game and I think it certainly could be expanded upon to add more content in the future and I certainly have learned that onions do not make good swords!

Thank you for playing and the feedback! The instructions could definitely do with improving. My friends all tried to collect everything as well :D
And thank you for confirming onions are not suited to melee warfare!

Really good game ! I loved playing it, it has a simple yet pleasing game loop and you have to act and think quickly which is great. Really hard to give up when the last material doesn't want to spawn. Super game great job !

Developer

Thanks for playing! I really enjoyed your game too, building a mini RPG for a game jam - you absolute madman! :D

Ahah thank you very much !

Such simple fun, great addictive gameplay. I think sometimes I spent too long waiting for my random item to drop, but all-in-all it was fun!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah I agree, at the moment its purely random but could do with something a bit more forced

I spent more time playing this than I care to admit, I can now honestly confirm that onions do not indeed make good swords

Developer

The Onion Sword theory is becoming more and more unlikely as more people confirm onions do not make good swords. Thanks a lot for playing, I hope you had fun!

Graphics are awesomely chunky, exactly my taste :-) Once I found out that the order of the caught items do not matter to forge weapons, I beelined to victory, yaay! XP maxxed out :-D

That's a good point, I didn't make it very clear the order didn't matter! Congrats on reaching the end and thank you for playing!

It was a little confusing at first. I was just gather everything except for the onions to see what was happening. Once I realized the icons on the right were the items needed to make those weapons then everything clicked and it became challenging to collect the correct items. I managed to make it to max XP and had a good time.

Developer

Thank you for playing! To be fair, avoiding the onions is great strategy. I admit I didn't make it very clear regarding how to complete requests - I'll definitely work on making the rules more clear for my next jam :)
Congrats on making it to the end!

Looks like the page might still be set to restricted?

Thank you for spotting that!  It should be fixed now.
