Cool stuff! The dogs are whack and I love them

I'm glad to hear it, thanks for playing!

Fun arcade style game, I could see myself playing this on a mobile device for a while. Controls are pretty simple and easy to get. Sometimes the dogs would zoom arcoss the  stage though the walls  but outside of that it I thought it was an enjoyable time.

Developer

That's great to hear, thanks for playing!

I really liked the arcade style! You hit a really nice balance in difficulty that was motivating to keep trying – it wasn’t too easy, but it also wasn’t hard enough to be frustrating.

Developer

I'm happy to hear that, thanks for playing, I appreciate it!

A strong contender indeed, though I'm not sure why you care about breaking things as a cat. Usually, it's the opposite.

Developer

Haha well my reasoning was the cat doesn't care but the cat's owner maybe does. Anyway thanks for playing and the nice comment!

Your sub's looking reminds me an old game I played on Atari 2600: centipede. You made me nostalgic. Never mind, really consistent creation.

Glad you liked it, thanks for playing, I appreciate it!

Cool idea, and surprisingly difficult. The art style is neat, and the mechanics work really good together

Level 4 got the better of me, I'm afraid, but this is neat! I think I hear GXSCC being used for the music? Either way, it's fun. One slight complaint is that you use the mouse for the UI, but the keyboard for gameplay, and switching between the two isn't ideal when I just want to hit retry immediately.

Developer

It should be possible to trigger the buttons with Enter/Spacebar but I guess that's not so obvious or maybe it didn't work for you for some reason? The sound effects I made with ChipTone by SFBGames and the music is "Boss Battle V" by nene from opengameart.com. Thanks for playing!

Awesome! Gameplay was simple and intuitive, and got pretty challenging trying to juke those dogs, and there's a nice retro feel with the art style!

I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for playing!

The pixel art and chiptune music fit well with the game, it brings a lot of arcade vibes to it.

I think it’s interesting to explore Pac-Man mechanics in another context where movement is less rigid with more options, but I feel some of those restrainments should also be applied to the enemies. Giving them the ability to pass through walls was a little bit too much IMO :P.

The different cost damage in the obstacles is a nice design choice, I think you used it well to punish easier paths, but not so much when adding the cheaper ones.

Developer

Haha yeah agreed, I let the dogs pass through walls really just because of time constraints. Thanks for playing and the thoughtful feedback, I appreciate it.

I enjoyed playing this, liked you're sticking to a palette and getting some real pico-8 vibes.
