Very interesting game. Super original. I enjoyed moving the ants around! I was expecting the ants to move NSEW from their current position rather than from the mushrooms position. Would have loved to see a score screen, or maybe have a timer for how quickly you need to move things before game over.

I think its really cool y'all used Godot + Rust. I've never used Rust, but I've always been interested. Also pretty cool that you got a speech recognition system. These game jams are always an awesome learning experience for me, and it looks like y'all were able to learn a lot. Congrats!

This seems like a prime candidate for some kind of high score game, though for as long as I played -- maybe 10 or 15 minutes -- there didn't seem to be any lose condition or score keeping. The graphics, sound and gameplay all fit together well, although I think I would have personally preferred an easier control scheme like WASD or arrows.

The only issue I noticed in particular was that sometimes barrels glitched out and became physical objects that the ants simply ignored. Maybe something to do with an ant "grabbing" the barrel but then becoming detached from it somehow. Eventually if they got bumped into the mushroom by another barrel being dragged by an ant they would get cleared out but in the longer term they really started to build up!

Yeah!! After voting ends, we want to add some refinement and this feedback is perfect - I'm thinking maybe having the high-score be seeing how long you last before there are "too many" waste barrels present, and having the barrels fall slowly at first and then faster and faster as time goes on? I also noticed the glitch of "abandoned" barrels getting ignored.. there may be other "bugs" (pun intended) too XD Thanks!!

I really really love the way you added a way to play the game via speech. Incredible! It is great that there are a variety of options to play the game. The only feedback I can give is that the player doesn't know where the next barrel will fall.

Thanks!! A great suggestion I've gotten is to add a "shadow" to help show where a barrel will fall - I agree this would be a key (and pretty easy) improvement :D

Poor turtle( And the ants are great, they help destroy the waste! It's cool that there is an alternative way to control it)

Pretty impressive game! Funnily not even the first game I've played this jam that takes place on the back of a giant turtle. One of the barrels got stuck in a location the ants couldn't reach though.

Developer

I played another giant turtle game from this jam too - I think there are more even XD I'll work on the "abandoned barrel" bug after voting ends, I've found a few cases of it ^^'

Nice game! I very much like the graphics and the music side of that project. Very cool of you to deep dive in the different technologies. I would add one thing though: I never knew where the barrels would fall so I'd suggest adding a little shadow sprite beneath them.

Developer

ooooo perfect, a shadow would help a ton thanks!

Neat little game.  I loved the experimental nature of what you did.  Some sort of in-game instruction or goal wouldn't be missed here.  It took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to be doing.  I'm not sure if there is a "lose" state to the game, but I couldn't find it.  Even when I made my ants stay away from the toxic waste it felt like the plants were growing faster than the waste was killing them.  The controls could be better, would love to be able to use WASD or arrow keys instead of NWES or click with the mouse, or even better if I could select my ants individually and tell them where to move like in an RTS-style game.  Oh and some music would be nice, but I'm not sure how that would affect the voice recognition, so may not be feasible.

I loved the graphics, very good use of the limited pastel colors!  Would like to see you do more with this concept.  An ant kingdom strategy game would be awesome.

ETA: Sorry my mistake, looks like my computer speaker died,  your audio is good :)

we didn't get to making "losing" or "winning" states, I might be lazy and say that it's commentary about how there is no winning state XD really nice feedback, will go to town after the locked voting period!
