Very good game! I have finished the campaign and had fun! ^^ Sometimes enemy attacks don't hit but I'm not sure why this happens.  It seems to happen when I don't release my mouse after clicking one of the elements.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Regarding the not hitting, do you mean the enemy spells just pass through the player? I've seen this behaviour sometimes, but haven't been able to reproduce it. I tried your observation as well just now, i.e., not releasing the mouse, but that doesn't seem to trigger the bug. Do let me know if you're able to reproduce it. Thanks for pointing out the bug and a potential trigger :) Also glad you had fun with the game and congrats on completing it :)

Yes, I mean spells just passing through. I tried to reproduce it again but it didn't happen.

Developer (1 edit)

I thought it was a feature, and that there was a chance for spells to miss

Developer(+1)

Could work it in as a "dodge"! Classic case of converting a bug to a feature ;)

This was excellent! Kept playing for a while. It was rewarding, engaging, and addictive!

Developer

Thank you :) Great to hear that!

won't repeat what has been said by others already, but wow! this is a very impressive project, and a beautiful team effort!

I truly believe this is a fantastic concept and a solid implementation. Y'all nailed it! I love what you made here, and had a lot of fun playing it. Was absolutely left wanting more! I'm sure you have loads of ideas on what you would have wanted to add given enough time, but even still you have the starting point for something that could be really great. Awesome submission! <3

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your kind words :)  It's really encouraging to know that you had fun and would like to play more. There are a bunch of ideas to extend the game, and we hope to reach there soon!

Excellent game, I loved it. Design wise especially, I found the casting system to be very interesting (kind of combining different cooldowns for strategic choices, very interesting and thematic).

All those games inspired by StS are so good, damn.

Thank you! Great to hear your feedback on the casting system.

StS is one of my all-time favourites :) Given the positive feedback on the core gameplay (casting spells as combination of elements, element cooldown, etc.), the plan is to work further to differentiate the game in terms of spells and effects as well.

This game definitely deserves to be expanded upon ! You could even work in a pvp mode

Developer(+1)

That's a good suggestion as well. Thanks!

The casting system is great. Especially for a player like me who doesn't play these kind of games, the visual nature of the patterns made it very easy to remember and also create the spells. (Not sure if this is a common mechanic, but I really appreciate it.)

I was excited by the first screenshot, but this is just concept art? Not a playable point of the game? It's a great style which could be expanded.

I think the movement of the spells could be sped up, currently too long for my liking. :)

Thanks for the feedback! Great that you liked the casting system. The spell movement speed was a deliberate design choice :) Good to have your thoughts on this.

Great work on this overall! I enjoyed the gameplay, it seems like it has a good amount of depth to it. The character art and audio were top notch, and having the elements be different pitches was a particularly nice "juicy" touch

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback! Great to know you enjoyed the game :)

Developer(+2)

Hehe, thanks, I wanted the sounds to be not so repetitive, so that's what I came up with, happy that you noticed! ^^

Nice work! I liked the balance between turn-based (which I normally don't like) and real-time with cooldown. I agree with others that a radial cooldown metre on the elements would have helped with my strategy.

I got pretty unlucky with my rolls and didn't get any defensive spells so I got an easy wipe on the 4th or 5th enemy, but still, it was an enjoyable experience!

Obviously the monocolour art is a choice and not one that I liked, unfortunately. The music was also a bit grating to me over time.

It would have benefited from some polish, but that gameplay loop was really solid. Casting the spells was a great game feeling. Well done!

Developer

Thank you :) Agreed about the cooldown metre. Regarding the random spell rewards, I guess our play-through testing was clearly not sufficient. Further tweaking is in order. The art style was something we wanted to try as an experiment; good to have your feedback. We will work further on the music as well. Great to know you liked the gameplay loop (and had fun with spell casting!). Appreciate your feedback!

I loved this. The only RPG's I've really enjoyed are the ones with a real time component and the fact that this is real time is really fun. I think there is a lot of cool strategic ideas here, and the conservation of your different elements to use different spells is really nice.

I think with some polish this could be really great. I would love to see cooldowns on the elements. I'd love to see more spells, maybe upgrades to element cooldowns, or maybe stacks of elements.

Super impressed. Really fun. Great job!! My fight against the boss went down to the wire and I won with 1 health left. Was really satisfying.

I should also add, that this would be sick on mobile too. Swiping the spells with your finger.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your kind words. This is really encouraging. Great to know you had fun with the boss battle! All your suggestions are very valuable, and we will surely work on these. Hope to show you an evolved version of the game soon :)

Awesome game, loved the real time nature of it and was a lot of a fun getting new spells and figuring out a good strategy!
