Great work! Very tight! Congratulations on your first Godot Wild Jam entry!!

It is a well executed platformer with some good feeling controls and a nice power-based twist. It was a bit too punishing for a jam game, I think, with the permadeath when you have an unfortunate fall which was quite easy to do with the green alien. I think the camera could have worked a bit nicer here, and looked towards the ground at the apex of the jump, rather than lock super hard onto the character.

A couple of small pieces of advice:

- One is to not use ESC in the control scheme if you are building to HTML5 as it exists fullscreen mode.

- On the topic of fullscreen, in your "Project Settings" in Godot, go to  Display -> Window, and then set Stretch -> Mode to "2D" and Stretch -> Aspect to "keep". This will be a very friendly stretch mode for 2D games in fullscreen. This is just something that you don't know until you do!

As others have commented, the audio balance is a bit off - In case you don't know, you can also edit and add audio busses in the game and attribute AudioStreamPlayers to a different bus depending on what it is. This is really good for managing Music and SFX separately, for example, and really handy to make this distinction as it will work well in a settings menu with a slider, for example.

Great work and keep up the jamming!

Thank you I’m pleased to have been able to submit something.

Thank you, good to know about the difficulty. I didn’t want it to be too easy but it looks like I might have overdone it 😅

I agree about the camera I did play around with some smoothing but I couldn’t get it working like I wanted so I left it out.

Good to know about the Esc key as I wasn’t expecting it to be playable in full screen.

There are sliders for the music and sounds in the menu using the different buses but it seems that I may have missed a sound here and there 😔

Thank you for all your feedback and support 😊

Ah nice. I didn't notice the menu! Well done, apologies for telling you to suck eggs haha.

There is a checkbox in the itch page for full screen playing FYI. I would always recommend including full screen for web builds as it is easy to support and makes it easy for resolution support

Really nice lil platformer! I liked the clean, colorful style and the idea of switching between powers as you try to get to the end. I enjoyed playing. Well done!

Thank you for playing!

FUN GAME!! At first when I started playing, I felt like this was just a platformer like mario but then the blue metal came and bam I started loving the game!! The jumps felt so satisfying once you got the jumper one. I don't like the speedy one that much but its cool!! The original alien's movement is very slow but I think that's the essence of the game. Since the movement becomes more satisfying once you combine with a metal!!

Also the hearts didn't have a use due to permadeath. You could just remove them. That gave the idea that once I die, I will have 2 more chances at that spot but I was sent all the way back with no heart gone. Still I loved the game! The kenny platformer assets are always great and you put them to good use!!

Great game!!!

Thank you! It’s cool for me to hear your opinions like that you didn’t like the blue one.

Oh, I didn’t think of using the hearts in that way, that is a cool idea. Currently they only go down when you run into spikes or a robot.

well done! even had that classic platformer up-left secret place at start of the level! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I think that may have been a bug with the level design but lets say it was intentional 😉

Really liked the cute visual style! I also liked the little shortcuts and optional paths you could take by exploring. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I thought it’d be fun to have some areas that could only be accessed with a power-up.

The death audio seemed to be really loud compared to the other sounds, and kinda made me jump! All of the art assets blend really well together and make a cohesive, smooth look! Overall, we had a fun time playing!

Developer

Sorry about that, I hope your ears are ok 😅.

I’m glad you had fun, thank you for playing!

nice visual style! gameplay is a bit bland and generic. game feels polished though so good job for keeping scope small and shipping.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I cut quite a few things to make sure that I could get what I thought were the important things done.

Saw the game on twitter and had to try it. Was a bit difficult to line up the jumps but overall fun game.

Developer

That is cool that you saw it on Twitter! Yeah, I think I was a bit scared to play around with it too much once I got it working 😅

I’m glad you had fun, thank you for playing!

A nice little platformer! Great itch page by the way!!

Developer

Thank you! I thought I should stick to something well known for my first time.

That’s nice of you to say, I wasn’t sure exactly what was required for the page 😁

Solid work and well done on completing the jam! It's not easy getting it all ready in a week.

I'd be nice if you could have a variable jump height. (let go of jump early to cancel the jump). It was a bit difficult to line up with the robots as the green guy since he jumped so high.

Developer

Thank you! I had to cut more than I was expecting as the week progressed, I definitely struggled to stay motivated after work.

Yes, that would be a good inclusion and give you more control.

Well done on your first GWJ. It was interesting seeing the progress through your devlogs. :)

My only suggestions for this one would be to speed the movement up a little. After you die, having to repeat the early stuff at a slow pace can be frustrating.

Good luck with the next one!

Developer

Thank you so much, it was definitely an experience. I will be adding the last few days to the devlogs soon.

Yes, perhaps it can be a little too slow at the beginning. Thank you for the suggestion, it is definitely something I could have played around with more.

Thank you and thank you for playing!
