Music and some sound effects would've been nice. Also just from a design perspective, in the third level, the spike is too close to the spawn point. With how fast the level reloads players will likely still be pressing the right key and briefly continue to move when the level restarts. The spike is so close that they'll just die again.

Developer

I tried to get some tailored made music and sound effect made for this game. But it arrived to late for the jam.  I know it is lame excuse for not having any music  and sound effect.

About the spike: You are right. I did not think about that

The platforming is really great and the character is soo cute hahah :D

I just wished there were more levels !

Cheers and congrats on the game !

Developer

Since people liked the game (and there is no music) then I think I will make an update after the voting is over with some small tweaks, more levels and music

Very nice controls. When I died I really felt like it was my fault. Very good!

Thank you for the kind words

Nice platformer. I haven't seen one in this jam yet.

I like how fast it is to restart the level, gets to gameplay asap :) But at the same time on second level I did not see spikes and died like 10 times :D Something as easy as changing node modulate color to red would make it stand out a lot more.

Even though you used kenney art assets, you've put them together nicely. It's very clear what you are supposed to do and which buttons to use (I didn't read the description)

If you are interested in making platformers and are not afraid of math, I recommend checking out this presentation on jumping in platformers. It's a great start if you would like to create your own platformer controller.

I am new to Godot and was not aware of I could change the color via the modulate function. It sounds like a function that could be used for make things (like the spikes) to stand out a bit more.

I have already watch the  GDC presentation that you recommend. It is nice talk but I never tried to apply what he talks about (at least not yet)

modulate is actually a property and you can change it from editor here:

Godot is great. I feel in love with it right away. Good luck with your future projects :)

This is exactly why I join jams. To learn more about Godot :)

Thanks

Fun simple platformer with solid mechanics, short but enjoyed it, Such a shame about the music not getting into this build. Great Work either way!

Thank you for enjoying the game.

I liked how each level became more difficult as you progressed. The controls felt responsive, especially when jumping.

Some music would have been nice, as well as some more levels. It was a bit short.

Overall, decent game.

Developer

I was corporating with the music with someone else for this game. I have received the music but it was  just a few hours ago so it was to late to be included in the jam. I will make a new build of the game alter with music and sound effect (when the judge has casted their votes).

Regarding the levels then one of my own goals was creating some good quality levels instead of many bad once (Less is more). It sounds like I was successful. But you are right. It is a bit short and I should improve it.
