Hi there!

I'm Ruben, a UI & 2D Artist who is part of a small, dedicated and skilled game dev team called Foolhardy Games.  Foolhardy Games was founded to make great playable games to showcase as portfolio pieces when applying to game industry jobs (hence the reason why it's unpaid) but we are definitelyopen to rev-sharing if we go through the path of publishing a full game in the future.

Member Portfolios:

Ruben Gardiner - UI & 2D Artist : https://rubengardiner.com/

Bradley Jones - Programmer : https://www.bradleyjones.uk/

Julio Reyes Dieck - Composer & Sound Designer : https://julioreyesdieck.com/

These are some of the games we've created:

Caloop (Maths Puzzle Game):  https://zombonline.itch.io/caloop

Build To Scale (Mobile Game Platformer): https://zombonline.itch.io/gmtk24

Gun Groove Alley (Rhythm-based Tower Defence game) : https://zombonline.itch.io/gungroovealley

Currently I've been working on all visual assets and animations for our games.  The scope of our recent project have gotten larger and now we need another artist to help  elevate our games. We are currently developing a small action multiplayer game called Bubble Trubble that we would like to finish in the next few couple of months. This was made during the Global Game Jam this January and we're currently giving it a full revamp. We're very realistic with the scopes of our games and always finish every game idea we start.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A portfolio showcasing good stylized game art assets (As beautiful as pixel art is, we need stylized/cartoony 2D artwork)
  • Great teamwork & communication skills
  • Great Organisational skills
  • Strong artistic & graphic design skills
  • Some experience with using project management tools such as Trello, Figjam, monday.com
  • [Bonus] knowledge in Unity game engine
  • [Bonus] animation skills

We are fully flexible and all have other commitments outside of game development so we have no strict work schedule. All your work that you create is fully owned by you and you're obviously free to show the WIP on social media.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Sorry, I'm currently looking for  paid work or games that have been close to fully developed and needs UI. I'm sure you can find a good artist here on this forum a lot of them are willing to help for free.

Hey there, is this a paid job?

Hi Inkhov, I think you might have been getting confused but I'm looking for a project not seeking someone.

👋Hi there, I'm Ruben, a London-based multidisciplinary UI artist with several years of experience in making 2D high-quality game ready assets. My unique selling point is my experience in designing stylized assets without compromising functionality. I am familiar with the entire UI/2D game asset pipeline from wireframing to animating to implementation in unity and everything in between. I'm also open to revshare or a discounted rate for game projects that I feel will help me grow as a game artist and operating on a tight budget.

(An example of my work, all assets created by me )

Hi there!

I'm Ruben, a UI/ 2D Games Artist currently seeking for paid projects or maybe willing to do a revenue share.

I've worked on many game jam projects, browser games and even had the opportunity to work on a published steam game. While my artistic style leans towards a hand-painted, stylized aesthetic reminiscent of Hearthstone, I pride myself on being highly adaptable and proficient in working with a wide range of UI styles.

From wireframing to creating visually stunning assets to animating and exporting game-ready assets, I’m very familiar with the entire UI/UX pipeline.

Thank you for the kind words, and yes Spelunky was on our mood board when discovering what art style to make.

Wow! this looks straight out of the N64 ps1 era im in love with it! Gameplay its super original and  in a way feels like the rhythm game Osu! Well made everyone!

Damn Im loving the graphics and especially the music! Well made guys!

Very creative use of the theme! Well done guys!

I cant understand the dialogue but the art style is beautiful, Great job!

Thank you very much for the kind comment, yes everything was made by us within the weekend.

Would love to see more of this game, fantastic system it kind of reminded me of bust a move but a platformer. Really great game!

Completely agree with you on that, I only just thought of that after we posted the game haha! For next time. we have definitely learned our lesson.

Really love the concept of this game, I love how you have to control the cats with a laser, while I was playing it I thought to myself "Damn I should have done that!" haha. Incredibly polished for how short the game is and soo much detail on the end-level screen. Fantastic! Great work!

Fantastic game, Loved the mechanics of how the gun is used, The sfx are really on point and the music helps give that Mexican vibe! Great job!

Great game! Love the graphics and great user interface! I would say the controls are a bit tricky as I have to constantly look at my keyboard to switch colors. But other than that it has no faults the game is super fun!

Great game love the dark aesthetics!

I felt like spider man for a bit! Great concept keep it up!

Really cool game! Love how smooth the gameplay is and love the 3d models!

Love the art and fantastic gameplay loop!

Love the sound effects! MEOOOOWW!!

Awesome simple game! would say its a bit difficult though, would have been nice to have some simple sfx too.

Really great game! Loved how much impact and weight the sword slash has! Great job guys!

What does this have to do with the theme?
